Disney's Grand Floridian

Overall, we had a good stay. We didn’t get into our room until 4:45 PM because apparently the room they had assigned to us had engineering issues. We weren’t very happy about the delay or the lack of communication, so they gave us a $200 room credit to help compensate us for the issue, which was certainly appreciated. Then, that night, as I went to wash my face with a washcloth, I found it to be literally torn and worn and had little black hairs on it. I was so disgusted, but it was too late to tell someone about it, so I brought it to the front desk the next morning. The cast member was as grossed out as I was, so she had the housekeeping manager, Tony, call me. He apologized & offered complementary housekeeping every day, but that was not something we were interested in. He then said he would send up chocolate covered strawberries, but those never arrived. It kind of became a running joke between us to see if the chocolate covered strawberries would ever show up. The bath linens, in general, were nothing to write home about. You would expect better quality with Grand Floridian being Disney’s higher-end property. Lastly, the mattress’s boxspring was hanging off of the bed frame, so my husband did not get a good night’s rest the first night. He ended up moving the boxspring and mattresses himself to have it sit correctly on the bed frame. We were so disappointed in many ways in this trip. Definitely did not feel the pixie dust in the air this trip. but there were other things that were good, such as the water pressure in the shower and the s’mores at night. Highly recommend getting the s’mores kit for $7. The 2 large cookies inside it are absolutely delicious! Overall, I’m not sure if we would return here or not. It just seems to have declined.

We are currently staying at the Big Pine Key building. On our 4th night and currently the 2nd event we've had with music blasting right outside our windows. Feels like we're on the boardwalk of the Jersey Shore. Not something I'd expect of the most prestigious of all the Disney hotels, especially for the cost to stay here. Not sure whose idea it was to allow this to happen. Won't be staying here again.

I stay at the "Grand" a lot. It is always a great stay. I am also a DVC member. I find that the hotel sections of the DVC resorts are better maintained than the villas. Everything in the hotel section is impeccable but, in the villas, - meh................ Our room was very clean as they always are, the carpet seemed quite worn in the hallways and kind of dingy - not bad but as mentioned not up to the hotel side standards. We had a lovely view and watched the water parade from our balcony. I requested 1st floor - got 4th floor - not a big deal. I love the GF and will be back. The quick service is the best one on property bar none. Transportation is good but with the lobby refurbishment, one elevator is down and there are only 3 total regardless to get up to the 2nd floor where the monorail access is. Once the construction is completed, there will be 3 elevators again and that should help a little with the lineup at the elevators.
