ResortQuest at Tops'l Beach Resort - Tennis Villas

Please consider this review before planning your vacation. We have stayed here several times. Both in the Tides and also in the Summit. We couldn’t wait to bring our adult kids and grandkids to see our little gem of a resort. We found out the resort switched ownership and this stay will be our last. They cater to the owners and as a guest you are treated as your beneath them to be staying there. One of the things we always loved was walking up from the beach to grab a quick bite at the beach bar and grill and enjoy the ocean view and maybe dip in the pool for a quick cool down. Not anymore, as they now have banned any guests from entering. Only owners are allowed. If we even need to use the bathroom they have set up Port A Potties for us. Yes I said Port a Potties. We paid $3000.00 for our vacation and have no dining options, no bathrooms and even as soon as you walk onto the beach there is a sign Owners only. Oh we are allowed to go sit on the beach, but only where they tell us. While we were there the ocean had a double red flag for 4 of our 7 days there so we were unable to get in the ocean and the pool was how we entertained our 2 and 3 year old grandbabies. We woke up one morning to a dead possum floating in our pool at the Summit and it was closed for that entire day. I asked the management if we would be allowed to use one of the other pools at the resort and her response to me was “they can still play on the beach!” I have done some research and we can go stay at many of the other hotels on the beach or resorts their in Destin area and have great amenities with dining options, live music and for most of them for less money. On our last night there they had a very large group that had rented condos together (looked like a family reunion, as there was at least 50 of them) and we just wanted one last night of relaxing in the pool but we were unable to because that family came down and took over the entire pool. All other guests left. They brought a large speaker and was playing music very loud and literally spread out in the entire pool, jumping and playing around where nobody else could even get in. This felt like a very cheap place and nothing made guests feel welcome at all. So disappointed the new owners have ruined this resort.

0/10 Hello - beware of booking with Vacasa for Tops'l Tides - we have been coming here for 17 years and had a reservation and family coming in from Europe. We booked months in advance and then without warning Vacasa said 'unit unavailable' with no details and the option given to us was for a far inferior units AND with a 50% upcharge ... only options was to cancel. Despicable customer service - book and prepare to be disappointed.

They changed everything about this and limited access the amenities. They implemented a weird tiered structure and segregated “Tops’l Club” so that you have to book through a specific agency. It’s honestly b.s. after coming here for years and having the expectation of broad amenities. I will not be returning if they continue this idiotic policy. Wouldn’t recommend in the slightest. Management sucks and there are too many rules and restrictions now. This place very quickly became overpriced cash grab slop.
