La Casa Hotel

Enjoyed the bed and grounds, location and pools. Pleasantly surprised! This was a pretty cruise stay. Doing it again!

Arrival information, very poor. No explanation of where to check in as reception is located in a different hotel. After travelling for 14 hours, we could not get into the room because the key card did not work. We encountered lots of guests locked out of their rooms for the same reason and this had been happening for a week. There was one reception staff on duty trying to deal with the same problem in all 9 of the hotels that belong to this chain so he was run off his feet trying to help people. Other guests were complaining that they had no water for days. This was New Year’s Eve with people unable to shower and locked out of their rooms. I demanded an immediate refund and we had to find last minute alternative accommodation which was incredibly difficult and expensive at 7 pm on New Year’s Eve in Fort Lauderdale. I will monitor the refund status to ensure that they keep to their word. Some people came to reception asking about room availability and they were still offering rooms even though they knew it was impossible to get into them. I warned them off, but there is so little accommodation at the last minute. I think they had no choice.

The room was small. About a 15min walk to beach. Pool was dirty. The office to check in is about 3 buildings down. Internet did not work at all. The ac was dirty underneath. It is a split unit on the wall. The bed was comfortable. Shower had good pressure.
