South Seas Island Resort

We are currently staying at South Seas and so far our experience has been negative. Upon our arrival, we were told that the elevator was broken. We are on the top floor of an outdoor building (with a heat warning). I expressed because of health issues this would not work. They said they would try to find another room in the type of room we paid for and very quickly came back and said, “due to cleaning issues, a room would not be available and to come back tomorrow.” I went back the next day. I walked in and the receptionist had no greeting, smile, or welcoming. She listened to my concern and said no rooms were available. She would have to talk with her manager. Upon return, she said that around 4pm they would be able to make a room change. I expressed concern about the 3rd floor and she very quickly would not give out any information about the room we would be moved into. It was a very unprofessional situation. An opinion about the room we are currently staying in (Captiva 2 bedroom villa) the upstairs bathroom hasn’t been remodeled in years (not like the picture on the website). The shower doesn’t drain leaving all the sediment to come back up after you shower. I am sure they have other rooms that are updated ours just wasn’t. I will update my post if our option changes, but unfortunately our vacation that we were very much looking forward to has not been great (under circumstances that we are not able to control).

We have stayed out South Seas several times and always enjoyed ourselves. However, they have made many changes in the property, and we found some not so positive. We understand they are focusing on families with children, and they did a great job with the waterpark and lazy river. But I don't understand the need to push everyone staying there into a very small area of the beach and stacking the chairs three deep to make it happen. I actually got hit in the head by a child as she stumbled in the sand and it really wasn't her fault the chairs were too close. But what really shocked me was being asked twice by texts to strip the beds, collect the trash in the room, load/start the dishwasher and gather all your towels in a single pile to be placed by the bathroom sink. I thought I was there for a vacation.

Everything was perfect. The quality matched the price; everything was very clean and well organized, and the service was excellent.
