Destin West Resort Management

This review is for Condo P407 at Destin West Beach and Bay Resort We have stayed at Destin West in the past and were extremely satisfied with both the property and the Condo. However, this specific condo was a complete disaster from the start. Upon arrival we attempted to open the curtains to see the view only to have the curtain rod and curtains come crashing down. Next was the kitchen, there was a puddle of water on the shelves in the refrigerator which continued throughout the week, the spray nozzle for the sink was completely missing and the digital read out on the microwave was nonexistent. Next the Master Bedroom, the knobs on the chest of drawers were missing forcing us to use a butter knife all week to get the drawers open, we offered to buy knobs but were told not too by the front desk as they would replace them which they never did during our stay. The headboard was only attached to the wall on one side, and the bedside tables are in dire need of replacement. None of the towel racks stayed on the wall when we tried to use them in both bathrooms. We were given two hand towels for three people for the week and were told by housekeeping that the owner should buy more! There was mildew around the master shower and the master bath toilet ran every ten minutes. Worst of all, were the floors, though they appeared to be clean, if you took three or four steps with bare feet the bottom of your feet were BLACK, not dirty but actually black forcing us to wear shoes all the time while indoors which is not the idea while on a beach vacation. Needless to say, what could have been a wonderful time was ruined by the condition of Condo P407. We definitely did not get what we paid for! All of this was reported to the front desk multiple times who offered a partial refund we have yet to see.

The good: Heron 406 has a good view of the bay & lazy river, the master bedroom bed is very comfortable. The walk to the lazy river is very easy. The bad: we arrived at 9:30 PM after a long flight & there was no toilet paper or paper towels. There were only 2 towels in the whole 3 bedroom unit for six people, no washcloths, no hand towels, etc. I texted the office # that night to let them know. They did not deliver these items to us until the next afternoon. There was a roach on top of the coffee pot & the trash chute across from this unit was completely full all of the time. The tvs were very small and outdated. The master bedroom stayed hot, we had to buy fans to stay cool when we slept. There was a very loud vibration noise coming from the master closet at different times of the day.

I booked two condos side by side units 106 and 107. Condo unit #107 dropped out of the destin west rental program and THEY DID NOT TELL US. I did not know until we received the text that our units were ready. I intentionally booked those condos to be next to my kids and be on the ground floor. And now there is NOTHING that can be done because all the units are booked now. I had NO CHANCE to pivot and do anything different. They took my money knowing full well that I booked those together. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking somewhere else and using a different agency. The right thing to do would be to let me know LAST YEAR when it dropped out that it was no longer available so I had time to book a different property where my family could stay together. ABSOLUTELY
