We loved the Water Edge Condos' beachfront location, but the roach infestation negatively impacted our stay. We rented a spacious and comfortable three-bedroom, three-bathroom unit with a balcony and a beautiful ocean view. It is a beautiful unit!
There were a few maintenance and housekeeping issues. Two of the bathroom showers drained very slowly, one bathroom was missing hand soap, and two bathrooms did not have body soap. Fortunately, there were plenty of towels available. However, there were no beach towels available. We had to go out and purchase 6 beach towels. The refrigerator’s water filter needed replacement (the replacement light was on.)
The pillows were very flat and uncomfortable, which made sleeping less enjoyable.
The biggest issue, however, was that the unit had a significant roach problem. We saw both large and small roaches throughout our stay, and it was very unpleasant. This was by far the most disappointing part of our experience.
The property offers both covered and uncovered parking and is conveniently located near great restaurants and supermarkets. The beach setup included an umbrella and two chairs, which was a nice bonus.
On Friday morning at 7:30 am, I was woken up by the maintenance workers as they were cleaning and using equipment extremely loud. As a courtesy, start those tasks a little later to give guests an opportunity to rest.
Without the roach issue, I would have gladly given this property a 5-star rating. Unfortunately, the pest problem significantly impacted our stay and my desire to return to this property. I hope I don’t bring any of these roaches home… because I’m not going to be happy!

We stayed in Unit 117 at Water’s Edge on Okaloosa Island and really enjoyed the location — the beach access is perfect, just steps away with no stairs on the boardwalk, which makes it ideal for anyone with mobility challenges. Being on the end unit gives you nice privacy, and the pool is far enough away that you don’t hear all the noise. The covered parking is a big plus, and the location on the island is convenient — close to grocery stores and a few good restaurants without having to leave the island. The price is very reasonable for such a large condo, and three full bathrooms make it great for families or groups.
However, the beds really need to be replaced — they’re incredibly firm and uncomfortable. When a 52-year-old woman chooses to sleep on the couch instead of the bed, that’s saying something. The pillows are flat and unsupportive, which doesn’t help. The fridge leaks, the ice maker doesn’t work, and the dryer barely dries. The washing machine is unbelievably loud, and there are no rugs or bath mats anywhere. The kitchen could use more dishes and serving pieces, too.
With a few simple updates — especially new mattresses, better bedding, and a little maintenance — this could easily be one of the best units at Water’s Edge. It’s a wonderful spot with so much potential; it just needs the owners to put a little care back into it.

We stayed in Unit 411 last week for a wedding; there were two couples and we were in town for a wedding. We booked it 6 months prior and it cost far too much and the fees were OUTRAGEOUS, but we needed a place to stay. We had nothing but problems from the moment we arrived. Main issues: there was no iron (which we needed since we had traveled so far (from CA), we asked over and over again and they kept telling us to check closets etc., we finally got it halfway through our stay. BUT, the ironing board cover was filthy. Then we thought to use the dryer the lessen wrinkles - the dryer DID NOT WORK and never got fixed because they had to "order a part." One of the biggest issues was the blinds in the master did not work, the light came in very early. It took two days for them to replace them. We spent a significant amount of our vacation texting and calling the management company. While the did refund us a very small amount, it was an insult considering the issues we had. While the condo was clean enough, it really was not "nice" at all. The grounds are well maintained and the staff meticulously cleaned the pool each day. BUT, there is not any tiny bit of shade - zero umbrellas - at the pool. There are NO beach towels provided and you aren't "allowed" to take the bath towels to the pool and beach. The "beach chairs" were like child size. Even the front door mat was old and gross.
