Marina Del Mar Key Largo

Fantastic sunset views. Pool is really nice. Great restaurants close by

Nice easy check in, but after that look out. I had a marina view double on the 3rd floor and the corner room was large with a full size fridge and stove, which would be nice for a family. The room is totally out dated, reminds me of the 80s, cracked out terrible furniture, bathroom cabinet wouldn't close and broken, wall by one bed with a dent in it, bed creaky, windows shades that would not close and were broken. Small TV and tough to find a parking space. I guess some of the rooms have been redone but many are not so I guess you roll the dice. Pool was good but very dirty which may or may not have been to recent rain. In the past things were better but now it looks like this place has gone downhill. The best part is the location and free breakfast. We got a cheap rate and were only there one night or we would have asked for a different room. Hope they can turn things around or we will not be back.

This must be my 5th or 6th review of Marina Del Mar , and I simply can’t find better value anywhere in Key Largo / Tavernier. Having stayed in many of the local chain hotels , I still keep coming back. It’s an older building, it shows its age at times, but the service, value and location are simply amazing. We were lucky to snag a Marina view room for 4 nights, it was huge, very clean and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Yes it’s old and if you want to take photos of a cracked door bottom, this may not be for you. For us, it’s perfect. Great location, superb staff, walking distance to many restaurants, bars, Diving, Fishing, Snorkelling…( I know walking may be alien to some, but it’s fantastic to walk around the local area, it’s only a mile each way to Publix ) The staff are excellent, very welcoming. There is a free breakfast, which gets some criticism in reviews, as it’s not an all you can eat buffet ( you can walk to any number of and eat your own body mass in breakfast but you need to pay for it ) This is just a simple , coffee options, juice, cereals, yoghurt and a warm option of waffles or sausage and egg croissant sandwich. It’s more than enough for us, but it may not be for others. Holiday Inn next door has a full buffet if you are hungry and Sharkeys next door has a great menu, both in walking distance. Mrs Mac’s is a 15 minute walk and does a great fruit cup , coffee and toast . Our room was serviced well , aircon fab, loads of towels, there’s a laundry on site, you have the use of multiple pools although the hotels own was really well maintained and quiet, plenty of sun beds . It’s an excellent value stay , unless you want 4- 5* luxury, in which case that’s what you should book . The staff at check in are superb and incredibly helpful.
