Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites - The Villages

We booked three nights but ended up leaving after two, which probably says quite a bit about our stay. The lobby is nice and looks newer, but unfortunately that’s about where the positives ended. The rooms are definitely dated, ours was somewhat clean. Breakfast was mediocre at best, but the most unpleasant part was seeing full garbage bags of trash left sitting next to the trash receptacle directly in front of the breakfast room. Not exactly what you want to see while heading in to eat breakfast. It was honestly pretty gross and definitely didn’t make the breakfast area feel very inviting. What really stood out, though, was the complete lack of hospitality. The staff seemed apathetic and rarely friendly or welcoming. When I told the front desk we were checking out a night early, the response was simply, “Okay.” After she finished checking us out? Another “Okay.” That was it. No “Was there a problem with your stay?” No “Sorry to see you leave early.” Not even a “Have a safe trip.” I wasn’t expecting first class service, but I also didn’t realize a smile and basic friendliness were considered premium amenities. A hotel can have an older room and still provide a great stay when the people make you feel welcome. Unfortunately, that was completely missing here. Between the dated accommodations, mediocre breakfast, trash sitting outside the breakfast room, and indifferent service, we were more than ready to move on a day early.

The rooms were dirty. Blood spots on the floor. The sofa was so stained and dirty that you couldn't sit on it. Dirty wash cloth left in my bathroom. The cable TV was out for days so no TV. I usually like Holiday Inns but I was very disappointed in this one.

Do not book here. This place is a pig with makeup on it. I was given 4 different rooms, before I decided not to stay. I won’t say much. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves but house keeping needs to be fired! Front desk lady Megan was nice and helpful. But the 3/4 rooms I was switched to was dirty. The 1 other one smelled like cigarette smoke and I left immediately and didn’t inspect the cleanliness of the cigarette room. Avoid until they get better house keeping ! Will be calling corporate. Found hair and food/crumbs in 3 out of the 4 beds ! Look at the pictures, they’re from the 3 out of the 4 rooms that I was switched to!
