South Seas

We booked a small meeting (35 people) with guestrooms and meeting space. The meeting space was great. Shuttle service was very good, even a bit early, and our coordinator was very nice and very helpful, but the rooms...well, not all of them had working locks and some of the buildings they were in did not have working elevators and some rooms even had "bullet holes" in the walls. I don't know what they were, but that's what they looked like. Although the food was very good overall, they neglected to bring out some of the dishes - at all! They billed us incorrectly for resort charges, as their system defaulted to two people per day (not all of our people had guests). It was very difficult for our attendees to get copies of their folios. And then it took several months to get the billing straightened out, where we repeatedly had to request backup documentation.

The south seas exceeded my expectations in many ways. Starting with a friendly and prompt check in. We stayed in the beach condos, unit 2363 which was recently renovated. Super clean and spacious for a family of 4, our kids are 8 and 10, they had their own room and bathroom on the first floor and loved it. There is a nice balcony over looking the beach. The unit has a coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, etc. I would recommend stopping on your way to grab groceries, if not there is a small place right outside of the resort. At check in they give you a coupon book and it gives you 15% off which made the pricing reasonable considering the location. You must get a golf cart as well. We parked our car upon arrival and didn’t touch it got again until we left. The resort is big and if you rely on the trolley you will be waiting a while, bike rentals are also another option. It takes about 10 minutes to get from this room to the main pool. The main pools have a water slide and plenty of room with chairs and cabanas. The service poolside was great. The food was pretty good and cocktails were poured right. No coolers allowed by the pool but you can bring whatever you want in your bag and no one seemed to say anything. They offer activities right by the pool like parasailing, banana boat, jet skiing and you can rent fishing poles. We saw 2 huge sharks caught over the course of our trip right off the dock. There are multiple places to stay in the resort, if you want to be closer to the pool you can be, but then your further from the stores and restaurants. For me it wouldn’t matter, your on vacation so riding around on the golf cart enjoying the weather is part of the fun. The water at the resort is beautiful, the beaches are not crowded and they have towels and chairs. I felt like this is the most tropical place you can be at in the US and really felt like I was away on an island in the Caribbean. Hats off to all of the staff who was super accommodating and friendly. We will be back for sure!!
