Floridays Orlando Resort

Location was good. 20 minutes in an Uber to Magic Kingdom. Not much else in walking distance. You are reliant on a car. Staff were friendly and helpful. Shop on site provided basics. Swimming pool area was big and clean. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and well equipped but it all looked tired and lacked the wow factor. It certainly didnt have that polished feel of a 4 or 5 star resort. The drawers in the bedroom wouldn't stay shut, the light in the bathroom flickered. It could do with a deep clean and a lick of paint. The communal areas could do with tidying up too. However this place has found its market. Families on a budget. If they splurge on tarting the place up then raising prices they could loose their target market. The rooms are comfortable and it met our needs. A solid 3 star accommodation.

Let me start off by saying that this place has gone down hill since I last stayed here 10 years ago. I thought it would be a great place to stay as we passed through from the Keys to SC. We should have just booked another couple nights in our Vrbo’s. I will say that our issues are NOT with the staff. I requested a room that would overlook the pond and highest floor possible which we did in fact get. The staff was friendly and approachable. The problem was with the room and other tenants. We stayed in building F and I did not care that it was all the way in the back. We thought we would be better off being away from the larger crowds. Well, being in the back also means that some people see this as a way to not follow rules because you are out of site. On several occasions I would have to go down to my vehicle and there were 3-4 large adult men standing right at the terrace entrance of building blocking the sidewalks standing out there smoking. As a woman, this is very un-nerving having to walk through or pass by them especially when they don’t move out of your way. On one of my trips to my vehicle, there was a broken crack pipe under one of the benches right outside of building F. NOT EVEN JOKING! The parking lot is also very dimly lit which is also concerning. Now let’s get to the room. At first glance, I was pleased. It had a clean scent and everything appeared to be clean. The more time we spent in the room, you can tell there were areas that were never touched. The master bedroom shower had clumps of dark hair on the floor of the shower. There were crumbs and hair under the kitchen table from the previous tenants. In addition, our jacuzzi tub did not work which was extremely disappointing. We tried everything and the jets are just broke. There is also a portion of mold on the ceiling on the master bathroom. We only received 4 bath towels for 4 people staying 2 nights. Generally hotels provide you with enough bath towels for the amount of people staying for the duration of your trip. There weren’t any extras in any of the closets or shelves. We ended up just washing them so we could have clean towels. The patio door only opens about 12” before jamming. If you push further it almost feels like the door will come off the track. All 3 TV’s should be retired and replaced. The TV’s are old and the top box on the screen will tell you that it’s a certain channel but you can see on bottom right it’s another network. This is ALL of the channels. I finally stumbled upon a channel that had a guide since the guide button does not work on the remotes but I had the same issues. The guide would tell me that channel 58 was a certain network but when you turn it on, it is something else. The WiFi signal is also terrible. We have never had any issues with our phones until then. Even the TV’s kept losing signal. The nail in the coffin for this stay is not being able to sit on our balcony and relax. There was someone near or around the pool area BLASTING Hispanic music. It kept getting louder and louder to the point of us having to call the front desk. The problem is, I don’t think anyone could pinpoint where it was coming from. On top of the annoying music, we also had to endure the smell of weed. Between the weed and the music, it left us no choice but to stay inside. At this point we were beyond frustrated and just wanted to leave immediately. Needless to say, we will not not coming back to Floridays. I really thought based on my previous stays that this was going to be perfect but it ended up making us crabby and annoyed during our family vacation. And by the way, I also miss the towels folded as swans or other animals. I noticed right away that apparently they also stopped doing as well. I always thought that was a classy touch.

I had such a rough experience driving in, but as soon as I got here, I was welcomed by the best staff you could imagine. Sara, Juliana, and Juan immediately reset my mind to vacation mode. They discovered that I teach English and proceeded to discuss their favorite teachers and books with me. I was thrilled by their kindness and enthusiasm.
