Horizon South Beach Resort

Do NOT go there. We vomited when we stripped beds. Huge blood stain about 1x3 foot blood stain on mattress and they covered it up. Shower had to run more than 15 minutes to get even warm water, each shower. Light blowed on porch. We took a lamp lightbulb from inside to replace it. The bloody mattress was all it took to make us sick to our stomach. You should be ashamed and reported to the health department for hiding a diseased mattress with the price you expect. Shame on you!

The location is great for the beach and on the quieter end of Panama City Beach. The access is easy before traffic backs up on Back Beach Rd. The amenities in the condo complex are great also-pools, mini golf, courts, gym. However, there are many things my husband and I found frustrating. We have stayed at other gated condo resorts before, such as Sandpiper Cove in Destin. There are not so many confining rules to the complex as Horizon South has. The purchasing of wristbands and a parking pass was never required in past places we have stayed and was a surprise on arrival. The amount of regulation we dealt with felt stressful, not restful. We had to tell the ages of people in our party, wait in a long check-in line when we arrived, were reminded of only 4 occupants in our unit, given a long list of rules (3 pages, double sided) upon arrival and when a problem arose, there was no response. We had to call to solve the problem. There are also rule reminder signs posted everywhere you turn. When we mentioned that our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson (1 year old) might visit for the day, we were reminded of the 4 person rule and felt like we were being checked on. Luckily, they didn't come. We stayed in unit 11c1 which was very well decorated, clean, quiet, and had a comfortable bed as well as a nice patio, washer/dryer, and beach chairs and cart to borrow. The unit was missing a few listed items like a coffee pot (not the Keurig provided) and an iron. There were no instructions on how to use the 2 TV remotes which took time and frustration to figure out. There were two handles missing on the furniture and the blinds needed repairing. We found it odd that since we had so many rules to follow that the text requests for the iron and coffee pot went unanswered until we called. Also, we noticed landscaping was required by the owners in the rules given to us, but there was none on our unit. Overall, the stay was fine, but the complex was older and could use refreshing in areas compared to other older complexes we have stayed in. We also dealt with RealJoy Vacation rentals when we booked so part of this is due to their handling of the unit. The price was good for the length of stay. We will consider other options next visit.

This place was just not good. First night was great until the next morning when we discovered that there was blood in the bed! Then as we walked into the bathroom we looked up at the ceiling and saw black mold growing all over the av vents witch mean that we were breathing it in.. then I’m going to switch the subject and say that their was. So much construction going on that you could not even get down to the beach after in rained plus some times we did not even know what the water was!! To end off with the negatives the 3rd night we found a cockroach under the counter. I was very happy to see that the security was very present and checking everybody’s wristbands. Which the wristbands cost $20 to just swim in the pool. This beach was very pretty, but this place made it not.
