Calling Casey Key Resorts–Mainland a “resort” is a serious stretch. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have encountered.
At check-in, we were given a key to what was supposed to be our room. When we opened the door, there was already a man lying in the bed. Allowing newly arriving guests access to an occupied room is an unacceptable privacy and security failure.
After we reported the incident to the front desk, we received an apology and were moved to the room next door. Unfortunately, the replacement room was disgusting. The white comforters had what appeared to be semen stains on them, the tile floors were visibly dirty and covered in marks, the toilet was stained, and the room did not appear to have been properly cleaned or inspected before being assigned to us.
The room was also advertised as having two queen-size beds. The beds were absolutely not queen size and appeared to be full-size beds at best. Rather than correcting the issue or moving us into rooms that matched what we had already paid for, the hotel’s proposed “resolution” was for us to pay approximately $85 more to upgrade to two rooms with king-size beds. Expecting guests to pay additional money to correct inaccurate room accommodations—after assigning them an occupied room and then placing them in a filthy replacement—is completely unreasonable.
The bathroom door was also extremely difficult to open from the inside. I genuinely believed I was trapped for more than five minutes and had to pull aggressively on the door to get out. That is not simply an inconvenience; it is a legitimate safety concern.
We drove more than three hours through torrential rain only to be given access to an occupied room, moved into a dirty replacement room with stained bedding and a stained toilet, provided beds smaller than advertised, and then asked to spend more money for an acceptable alternative. The room also faced a parking lot and offered nothing resembling a resort experience.
The photos speak for themselves. This property failed at the most basic standards of cleanliness, maintenance, guest safety, privacy, accurate advertising, customer service, and quality control. I would not recommend staying here.

Everything was fine until a lady from housekeeping knocked on my door at 9AM asking me when I was leaving when the check out was not until 10 AM. She knocked and then vanished or was hiding and I opened the door and kept announcing who's there who's there and then she appeared and basically asked me to leave! Not cool. Also, Mo is gone from the property so things are not what they once were and the free coffee is also gone from the lobby! Chef ROLF is taking ownership of everything slowly but surely and we love him for it. The property for some reason is a magnet for cigarette smokers and we cigar lovers hate that! I stay here a bit when I am in town selling cigars at events.

We stayed ocean side three nights, the grounds/area are beautiful. Location was tucked away yet close to shopping, restaurants etc. Fantastic But when we arrived around 3 o’clock we noticed a sound system being set up for “event” near the pavilion on the beach, which was coincidentally right next to our unit.
All of the guests I talked to the next morning seemed to be caught off guard by this, and we’re also very disrupted by it even though some were staying on the other side of the street.. It was a techno music “concert“ that ran for five straight hours from 5 till 10 PM, shaking every window in our unit (probably all units) non stop, no exaggeration. I consider an event to be something I can choose to attend or not, not be subjected to it for five straight hours .. only way to escape it would be to leave the property, but then risk losing your parking space upon returning. It was also stated that most of the attendees were not even guests of the resort, but outsiders who follow this DJ around .. So we lost one of our three nights to window rattling noise pollution that as far as I can tell, no other guests liked or appreciated. I cannot describe to you in words how loud it was, with the base rumbling through our unit and souls for hours on end.. even watching TV was out of the question. I felt bad for the guests that had young children that they would have to put them down for bed by seven or 8 PM, that was impossible.
On the positive , we really enjoyed the rest of the stay, and we would go back, but we would check the scheduled events first before booking the dates .
One of the repeat guests that I spoke with said the current owner has put a lot of money into the property last 10 yrs, that is obvious, and I do think they try hard but they seem a bit overwhelmed and can under deliver on some of their promises at times.
Our unit was perfectly clean, good working order, bathroom a bit dated but that didn’t bother us. The environment is very appealing with our only regret, and it’s a very big one, is the five hours of base reverberating through our unit the first night of our vacation, with no reprieve. I’m hoping the owner sees that event booking as a huge mistake and does not repeat that again. It did not match the nature of the environment or the wants of the resort’s guests, not even close..
final note - this may have received a four or five star rating had the first of our three nights not been stolen from us by an aggressively loud techno dance party attended by outsiders
