Kingwood Resort

I truly do not understand how this “Resort and Winery” earned an average of 3.8 stars, perhaps an eighth of a Star is warranted. The golf course looked nice and well maintained but that iis not the case for the rest of the “Resort”. There is no winery and we attempted to dine at the restaurant a couple of times only to discover it was closed. The place reeks of an early 70’s vibe and reminded me of vacations where we woukd stay at Hoilday Inn motels on our way to our destination. My wife and I decided to give the “Resort” another chance for dinner. We walked into a musty, dank and tired restaurant and bar decor. We thought we were in a different place because the pictures on the internet are not indicative nor representative of the actual place. We immediately decided to pass on dinner (I was waiting for a Cisco delivery truck to pull up) and have a drink at the bar. We were greeted by a bartender bored out of her mind but reasonably pleasant. There was no choice of craft beers (I would not have ordered one because I am sure the tap lines are a Petri dish of bacteria) and even if we wanted some pub grub, they were out of several items. We had enough and left never to return. The place need a serious remodel and update or raze it and expand golf course.

We had a few days to meet with a few couples and chose this place for its location. Older, smaller, trying to make a come back. It's a decent location and a worthy of a few nights. Gym, spa and indoor pool are decent.

The new management is awful. Been going to their stay and play for the past 2 yrs but this year was first yr under new management and had an awful experience. I will not be back.
