The Modern Honolulu

We stayed here a couple of years ago in a one bedroom on the south end overlooking the ocean and loved it!! BUT….this time we were placed in a regular room (our regular time share is a one bedroom unit. We had to pay extra to upgrade to Hawaii but they only had the regular room so not an equal exchange). What was HORRIBLE was the elevator noise!! You could hear it every time it went up or down — even with the TV on (and we were THREE rooms away from it — even the lady four rooms away complained too) And Other people were complaining as well. They really need to inform people before they book here! I will never stay here again unless we can get a room FAR FAR AWAY from the elevator.

The location is nice but it was the most uncomfortable bed that i’ve ever (barely) slept in. I have been so tired walking around during the day and was extremely sleepy during the night but I could not get any sleep because the bed was as hard as a box spring. We also had issues with the water temperature in the shower as it was boiling hot, would not even cool down even if we’ve turned it nearly off. Would not stay here again.

We stay in Hilton properties on a regular basis. The Modern is a part of the Hilton Grand Vacation so we are used to certain standards. Unfortunately The Modern does not meet the standards of most Hilton properties. The bed is on a low platform and the mattress is not as comfortable as normal Hilton properties. The tv was broken for almost two days. Staff is friendly and the room is clean. Loved the pool area. Perfect for a hot day. There are many restaurants close enough to walk to- that was good. If asked. I would not stay here again.
