Wai'ula'ula at Mauna Kea

Very noisy as they are building directly in back of the property. Pile drivers from 8am to 5. They won't tell you that when you book, so beware. This is a large project that will go on for a year at least maybe 2. I felt lied to and taken atvantage of, checked out early. Won't go back.

This was an absolutely perfect place for a family vacation. We had a 3 bed/3 bath condo at Wai'ula'ula. There were 7 of us staying in the condo, but it was so spacious we never felt crowded at all. We loved having access to a kitchen with everything we needed and in-room washer/dryer. The balcony's view of the ocean, golf course, and mountains can't be beat. We also really enjoyed the amenity of the pool and hot tub at the community rec center. We used the lovely and peaceful pool several times and were usually the only family there. Yes, driving to the beach isn't ideal, but it's a quick 5-minute drive and very easy with the Mauna Kea resort's valet service and the parking garage at the Hapuna Westin. It was a huge perk having access to all of the amenities at both hotels (pools, restaurants, golf, activities, etc.). Hapuna has really great pools, and the beach at the Mauna Kea is surely one of the best in the world (certainly in the US!). One thing I will note is that there is a notable difference in furnishings between the condos. I think they must be privately owned, and thus owners can decorate as they desire. While our unit had modern, comfortable furnishings and two double beds in the third bedroom, the other condo our party rented had much more dated furniture, beds that were low to the ground, and tiny twin beds in the third bedroom. It was still a very comfortable place to stay and we had no complaints, but if you're picky you may want to ask about the details of the specific unit you are renting. We stayed for a week but would have stayed for months if we could!

Dated residences with unresponsive staff and essential items missing from the units. Local exercise room is old. Grills on lanai typically nonfunctional, hot water absent from kitchen, air conditioning poor.
