We were very pleased to have chosen the Hotel Coral Reef for our three night stay. The hotel, despite its name is not a 'resort'. We were in the upstairs corner suite which is the size of two rooms with its full kitchen and separate bedroom. The hotel is right on the beach with the public walking path separating its lawn from the shore. So you get to watch the locals and tourists passing throughout the day. The ocean front rooms are in fact ocean front and unobstructed. It is in the heart of Kapaa town within easy walking distance of everything. Yes there are unhoused people living in the area. Yes traffic is horrendous. Neither of which are their responsibility but folks might like to know. Zero parking fees and zero resort fees make it a solid bargain. We would absolutely stay there again without hesitation.

We spent our Christmas holiday's , 11 nights, at this hidden gem. What a welcome sight. the staff very welcoming with Grandma's banana bread. The location was great, central to North and South beaches. The property, clean and bright. The room had all we needed. Ocean view, very comfy bed, the little extras were nice too. Rooster alarm clock every morning. Parking, a little tight, but plenty of spaces. We are already missing the sound of the ocean lulling us to sleep. We will defiantly be coming back.

Do not book garden view rooms!!! Checked in and the AC was not working in the bedroom. Decided to shower before requesting to change rooms. While the shower was renovated to a walk in shower, one of the sprays from the shower head was spraying onto the bathroom floor over the shower curtain. Upon my request, my husband and I got moved in which they moved us to the room next door. Upon getting ready for bed, we discovered the curtains were not black out type and we were right up against the parking light post on the 2nd floor and light streaming in. Even with curtains in the bathroom, it did nothing to keep the light out. The shower head was even worse in this room, and the toilet rocked. My husband and I are not big people. The garden rooms are very outdated. I don’t get flustered with roaches but there were huge roaches 1 on each of the 2 nights we stayed there. Why have phones in the rooms when they don’t work? The lady who checked us in was nice.
