Marc Pono Kai Resort

Arrived a day before hurricane Lowell, we’re from NY so we put water bottles into the freezer incase the power went out ( which it did Monday night). Thankfully the resort has gas BBQs and we were able to make meals and boil water for coffee!! We were extremely fortunate that our unit regained power 2 days later and we didn’t lose any of our frozen food. We conserved energy and water , went and got extra towels, paper towels and toilet paper from housekeeping and didn’t expect the staff to cater to us during the week. It was like camping. Once some power was restored the pool and hot tub were available which was fantastic considering we couldn’t really explore the island due to lack of power and road closures. The condo we were staying in had a great ocean front vie and our bedroom had cross ventilation with the windows open. Once power was fully restored we used the AC, in the 2nd bedroom they had added a portable ac which was fantastic. The pool and jacuzzi were recently refurbished and we enjoyed them immensely. It’s a models resort, centrally located and easy home base for day trips. Will be back next September.

Stayed for a week. Our air conditioning, hot water, and electric went out 3 days into the trip from a hurricane. Lost all the food we had just stocked for the week. I asked if there was anything I could do to get a refund for the remaining days, no. So for the rest of our stay, we had to stay in a hot/muggy room at full price. Then there was the housekeeping issue. Two days into our stay, I received a voicemail stating housekeeping would be by the following morning. Never arrived. I went to the front desk and I let them know housekeeping must've missed my room, no big deal but I needed to swap out towels for my family. I was told "why don't you just take them to housekeeping if you need towels"... Fine lol, again no problem but said I would still like housekeeping to swing through. 2 days later, same voicemail, still no housekeeping. I called the front desk this time, was told they we're sending someone. Nobody showed up. This happened 3 times. A week long stay we couldn't wait to leave.

This is in a great location. The resort is older, on the waterfront however not a lot of beach access there. If you are looking for a great beach area you have to travel off property. They do have a decent pool/hot tub on site. I had to ask several times for towels, paper goods etc. Not sure if they are understaffed or another reason?
