We stayed here for the Xterra race this past month. We found the condo to be spacious enough for 2 couples and the decorating was tasteful. The patio was amazing with a view of the 10th fairway so we could sit & watch golfers while enjoying our happy hour drinks. The pool was very nice to go for a swim and cool off. We were able to walk back and forth on race day so didn't have to worry about parking or any of those logistics. Despite being fully booked up, the resort was very quiet, we didn't hear any sounds between units and we visited with other people on the next patio. We also spent the day after the race playing golf on the bay course, which was fun. We stayed here before and liked it so it was an easy choice to come back again. There are many stairs going down to the unit so if you have trouble with stairs, these condos would have to be checked out further.

What a vast and breath-taking establishment. With 3 different types of accomodation on one resort, three beaches, a golf course, and many restaurants, what more do you want? We woke up every morning to an ocean view and watched the whales play. Every beach, though on the resort, has public access, so either walk down or take the shuttle because parking is limited during peak season. The beaches all have showers to wash your feet. If you want more privacy, the villas, have a small private pool. You just need to code to enter. Make sure you go down to the Burger Shack on the beach at the Ritz Carlton for ice cream floats. Also, the sushi place, Sansei, has 20% off before 6 pm and it gets busy fast.

My family stayed here during at the beginning of July 2016. In short our stay was smooth and memorable. Location: Location was easy to find using the GPS driving map feature on my phone. I would recommend you have an idea of where you are driving as the Kapalua area has several streets that you can miss while you enjoy the scenery and make your way around. If you stop by the Honolua Store you can easily make your way back to the correct street by driving behind the store and up to the street for the right turn. At that point go straight. The Unit: The space in the unit is very well utilized. Upon entering you are greeted to a tiled entryway. To your right a carpeted living room with 2 reclining chairs and 1 sofa bed couch. Just beyond the living room, the dining room and very well furnished kitchen. To the left of the entryway, a door leads to the first bathroom/washer dryer area. This was a nice area as you can do laundry and not have to pack as many clothes. Laundry detergent was provided and we took full advantage of the washer/dryer half way through our trip. Another sliding door in the same bathroom led to the master bath with stand up shower. There was another door that led to the Master Bedroom. All in all -- the space is well utilized and was easily a space that I could see myself living in permanently. So the best part of this unit for me was the lanai area off the living and dining room. Two sliding glass doors led to the lanai that had 2 2-person breakfast tables and 2 rattan-like seats that my family took advantage of every morning for breakfast. The view is spectacular and is a joy to wake up to every morning. See my pictures attached of the unit and lanai. Just beautiful. The Kitchen: I kept this separate from the unit review as I was thoroughly impressed with the kitchen appliances and equipment. I am Asian. I eat rice. This may be normal for Vacation Rentals however I was thoroughly surprised to find a rice cooker. Kudos to the owners. I was half expecting to cook my rice out of a pot which I can do but was thrilled to have a rice cooker. For those using a rice cooker and now knowing how to measure the rice for the lines inside of the rice pot -- a "rice cup" is 3/4 of an actual cup of rice when measured. So the line marked #2 is 1.5 cups of rice when measured in the standard measuring cups. A refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, oven...all pots and pans, cooking utensils, forks spoons were all located in the kitchen. We had every appliance and cooking utensil necessary to cook. Dish sponge and dish washing liquid was provided. A dish washer for those that want to use one was also handy -- complete with the dish washer detergent. There were plenty of cups, glasses, champagne glasses to use. Buy some wine and use the wine glasses on the lanai at night. Super awesome to look at the stars at night when there are no lights with a glass of wine in hand. For those wanting to BBQ, the grill is located in the pool area. The pool closes at 8PM. Beach Items in the Lanai: For those first timers staying here this particular Lanai has a closet that has plenty of beach related gear you can borrow. There were 3-4 Beach chairs (with the backpack straps for easy traveling). There were 2 styrofoam chests, sand toys for the kids (at least 2 sets), 1 neon pink and 1 neon green blow up pool mat/rafts and other assorted swimming items. I think I saw some swim fins and at least 1 snorkeling set. Borrow the items and go down to Kapalua beach each morning. Other items to note: - Walking each morning was a great experience. Get out each morning if you can and join the numerous walkers in Kapalua. - Kapalua Beach is a short drive (about 4 minutes away) just past Merrimans restaurant parking. Get down to Kapalua Beach before 800 for "sure" parking in the parking lot. There are about 18-25 parking spots right next to the beach entry. Outside of the parking area you park on the street and other various spots. I did see some folks parking at the Kapalua Tennis club in the tree area and walking in. Not sure if that was permitted however that is what some folks were doing. - Kapalua Coastal Trail - The Coastal Trail is within walking distance of the Golf Villas. I guesstimated .50 miles from the Unit. One end of the Coastal Trail starts at Kapalua Beach and is a good hike to various locations and 3 beaches that I am aware of. Wear a good pair of shoes. Be prepared for spits of rain and/or a nice wetting from heavier showers every once in a while. The views are spectacular. Bring a camera and do not forget the sunscreen. - Honolua Store (ABC Store) - This is a general market store in Kapalua that has many of the daily things you need (milk, bread, fruit, souvenirs, sunscreen). They also have a kitchen in the back area that has breakfast and lunch at decent prices. - There is a shuttle that we did not use however it is available. I believe the paperwork said you can call for the shuttle and it would be at your doorstep within 10-15 minutes. I did see the shuttle picking up people. The shuttle does bring you to places around Kapalua for free. - Golf at Kapalua Bay Course - There were golf specials for staying in the Villas. I play golf however I did not play a round during my stay (I should have). There are also afternoon rates that were very competitive with other courses around Maui. Next time I stay here I am playing a round in the afternoon. Overall experience -- The Unit itself was such a pleasure to come back to every night after a day on the beach or driving around Maui. This place felt like home. I plan on coming back here again and hopefully the unit or another unit within the Golf Villas will be available. Aloha and Mahalo Platinum Vacations - Kapalua Golf Villas. My family is happy to add you to our Ohana!
