Castle Makahuena

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Makahuena Unit 1106 and would return without hesitation. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this unit had been thoughtfully prepared to make guests feel comfortable, relaxed, and at home. The location is truly spectacular. Makahuena sits right on the southernmost tip of Kauai, and the ocean views from the property are incredible. Just steps from the unit you can walk along the lava rock coastline and watch waves crashing against the cliffs—an unforgettable experience, especially at sunrise and sunset. We saw sea turtles in the water below and even spotted whales offshore during the season. Unit 1106 itself was spotless, spacious, and extremely well maintained. Everything felt clean, organized, and welcoming. The furnishings were comfortable and tasteful, and the layout made it easy to settle in and relax after a day of exploring the island. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook meals, which was a huge plus since we enjoy eating breakfast at the condo before heading out for the day. The lanai was one of our favorite parts of the unit. It was the perfect place to sit with a cup of coffee in the morning or unwind in the evening with the sound of the ocean in the background. The peaceful atmosphere made it easy to slow down and enjoy the beauty of Kauai. The Makahuena complex itself is also fantastic. The pool area is well maintained and relaxing, the tennis courts are a nice bonus, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. The property feels quiet and private, yet it’s just minutes away from Poipu’s beaches, restaurants, and shops. We loved being so close to Shipwreck Beach, Brennecke’s Beach, and Poipu Beach Park. Another thing we appreciated was how easy and smooth everything about the stay was—from booking to check-in to check-out. Clear communication and thoughtful touches made the entire experience stress-free. If you’re looking for a comfortable, well-located place to stay on the south shore of Kauai, Makahuena Unit 1106 is an excellent choice. It combines beautiful oceanfront scenery, a peaceful atmosphere, and all the conveniences you need for a perfect island getaway. This is truly a one of a kind home. I did not see anything like it anywhere else on the entire island. The value for the money is fantastic. You might be wary of the price tag, but it is truly worth every penny. We truly loved our time here and hope to return again soon.

We were in building four and loved it. The view is stunning! Our unit was clean, modern, well stocked and the perfect size for four of us. We used the pool and tennis court on the property. The location is perfect - close to Poipu Beach. We would love to come back!

The view is spectacular, the condo is not. We had numerous problems that the rental agency has done a good job of trying to stay on top of….air conditioner , screens, dirty furniture…..now a toilet has broken. This condo needs to be updated to support a beautiful ocean location.
