This place is amazing! Beautiful, clean, interesting and most of all, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! We will definitely be staying there again and I have already recommended 20 South Battery to others!!

This is a wonderful place to stay in Charleston! Great location, exceptional service and as Abbey (the manager) said when we arrived, you are sleeping in history!

I stayed at 20 South Battery for three nights in the carriage house, and the entire experience was exquisite. This beautiful historic mansion, dating to the 1800s, has been preserved with extraordinary care. Both the house and the grounds were maintained to perfection, and the staff could not have been more kind, welcoming, or gracious throughout our stay. One of the most remarkable aspects of the property is its collection of antiques, reportedly valued at approximately $5 million. Being surrounded by such history gives the hotel a character and sense of place that is difficult to find in a modern property. Each evening, guests were offered charcuterie and the opportunity to relax in one of the home's elegant spaces, which created a peaceful and memorable way to enjoy both the history of the house and the company of the hotel. The location is equally exceptional. 20 South Battery sits in Charleston's prestigious South of Broad neighborhood, surrounded by magnificent historic homes and tucked away from the busier parts of downtown. It feels quiet and residential, yet you can easily walk to breakfast, explore the surrounding streets, or enjoy a stroll through the park directly across from the property. I would also highly recommend purchasing the historic book available in the gift shop. It provides wonderful background on the house and makes the experience of staying there even more meaningful. The property has an important place in Charleston's preservation history as well, with the Preservation Society's origins connected to a gathering held in the home's ballroom in 1920. I will absolutely return. For anyone looking for a quiet, elegant, historically rich alternative to the energy and uniformity of a modern hotel, 20 South Battery is a truly special place and one I highly recommend.
