Hampton Inn Jacksonville, IL

VETERANS BEWARE! Whatever you do, do NOT book under the military rate because you will not receive that discount or rate at this price-gouging hotel. I booked the room under the military rate and have done so on many other Hilton properties in the past; I have never had a problem with getting that rate. Now minding you I could have gotten the room without any discounts when I booked my room for $106, including all fees. They say hey we will help you out $110 plus all the fees, so it was $126. I even showed them on a 3rd party I could get that room for $80, even less than their advertised military rate. But, not only no but hell no. My suggestion is book with a 3rd party, so they can't bend you over, also, make them pay 3rd party booking fees, and that $20 they stole from me. They can give that to the booking agents. I am heavily involved in VFW and American Legion as a combat vet and I will be letting everyone I know what kind of ship they run there. As well as a rural mail carrier and I will be telling all them customers about this hotel if they will be staying in Jacksonville, IL. Just a note I live an hour from this hotel.

Very friendly staff. Scott at check- in great and ladies at desk in morning also wonderful (who were doubling in the breakfast area). Room showing wear but comfortable. Breakfast usual Hampton fare. Reasonable rates. Highly recommend if you are staying in the Jacksonville atea.

It's clean & has a typical breakfast. But the training or hiring or both just doesn't result in capable front-desk staff. If I return to Jacksonville, I'll stay at whatever is the 2nd-highest-rated hotel instead.
