An uncomplicated on/off exit from I-90 made this a perfect stopping location for us. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. Bed linens were soft and mattress was very comfortable. Lighting in room was good enough to read by. We stayed on a beautiful summer evening that turned treacherous around 10:30pm when tornado warnings started popping up around and eventually right over us. The hotel and surrounding area lost power around 11pm. Being a brick building and in the middle of the second floor, we felt safe in the bathroom listening to the storm and tracking wx via wifi. Hotel staff walked the halls hanging battery lanterns so that we could see. We were thankful for the windows that opened after the storm passed. That kept the room cool the entire night. In the morning, we were disappointed to not experience the full breakfast and Douwe Egberts coffee in the nice dining room but the thoughtful owners had gone out and grabbed ice blocks and yogurt, plus muffins so that we all had something to eat. The MI state line is less than a mile away and just over, there's a grocery store and Starbucks. While the Starbucks didn't have power, the grocery store did so we were able to get something there to eat. Meanwhile, hotel staff who had varying degrees of storm damage at their own homes and also no power showed up, helping folks with their bags (no elevator), and making the best of a difficult situation. When we come this way again, we will very likely choose this hotel as the owners and staff made a huge impression and with that kind of attention to property and persons, you know it's a good place to be.

Rented 10 rooms for one last family gathering for a veteran dying of cancer. Ask for him to be in a joint room w his kids so they could be with and take care of him for the weekend. Called twice and emailed Grace once to confirm he would have this. At the initial booking I told Grace we were not going to stay at the hotel across the street ONLY because they could mot make this happen. No only did this not happen. The night clerk didn’t care and kept telling me it didn’t matter because she would put them on the same floor. When I told her I was furious, she didn’t care and did nothing. She said there was an attached room for a disabled person. Told her that was the case and she chose NOT to give it to us anyhow!!!When I re-forwarded the email confirming the room requests and Grace’s reply, not only did Grace do nothing to remedy the situation, she denied our conversations and said that the email didn’t mean anything!? The continental breakfast was TERRIBLE, they only have 2 handicapped parking spots, and the elevator makes really scary noises too. Hampton Inn is across the street. Try there. This one is terrible.
