BEST WESTERN PLUS STEEPLEGATE

As we travel frequently, we always try to stay in BW hotels. The amenities can differ but they are always well maintained, clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. But after staying at this hotel, we were wondering how the Best Western francize was maintained. Our room and the hotel seemed in disrepair. The bathtub had a golf ball size hole in it which prevented us from taking a shower or a bath, which was a mute point as all of our towels were needed to mop up the water that poured out of the toilet every time it was flushed, which we didn't do after we ran out of towels. There was some foreign substance on a wall in the bedroom, and even though there was a container for ice, there was no ice machine to be found on the premises though the plumbed cubby holes were present. There was a very nice area for the included breakfast to be served, yet we had to travel several blocks to a restaurant for that. When we tried to call, no one answered and when we checked out, I tried to discuss these issues with the person behind the desk but he said that he couldn't understand what I was saying, even though he understood me perfectly the night before when I checked in. It was the same person the night before, from his accent, he seemed to be of India ethnicity.

This Best Western Plus does not live up to the brand or our prior experiences at BWP hotels. Our room door would barely close and took some effort - kind of scary in an emergency. The tiled floor was not mopped. There is an indoor pool located in the middle of the hotel in a huge hot, humid, smelly room. Free breakfast was subpar with yogurt produced from an odd machine. Although right off of Interstate 80, it’s surrounded by industrial companies.

Stopped here because the site said there was a restaurant on site .. got there and the restaurant was closed. Front desk guy seemed annoyed that I was asking him questions about food nearby. Then my toilet wasn't working, so I called the front desk twice and let it ring at least 10x to no answer. I walked to the front and he was sitting behind the desk, so I asked why he didn't answer the phone and he said he was in the back. He sent a "staff" member to fix my toilet.. took at least 30 minutes to get there, and he seemed shocked I asked him to leave the plunger. Like, what if the toilet acted up in the middle of the night? The bed and pillows were hard and the towels were dingy. Glad I only stayed for the night.
