HAMPTON INN IOWA CITY

The accommodations are adequate. The breakfast was pretty good. The customer service was terrible. I was threatened to have to pay additional costs because my autistic child made too much noise! The person who I spoke with was obviously not familiar with the Americans With Disabilities Act.

This hotel shows many signs of aging. The room itself was clean and the bedding and HVAC were good, but the common areas are pretty bad. The area near the breakfast room is awful. I understand that the 3rd floor is being renovated; hopefully the 2nd floor and common areas will also be renovated soon. Our toilet was running constantly, and I found that the chain was too long and interfering with the flapper. That should have been noticed a long time ago. I fixed it myself. Staff were uniformly pleasant and competent, and my dog was welcomed. The location was only so-so, about ½ mile from the center of town.

This was a lovely, clean place to spend the night. The river runs next to it and there are several restaurants within walking distance. Our room was spacious and clean, very quiet. The breakfast was adequate.
