The Decker House

Excellent food. Our early start was accommodated cheerfully. No obvious way to warm up a chilly room. No way to watch normal tv channels (Stephen Colbert or WNBA.

Staying at the Decker House was a joy! Cynthia just took over ownership of the house in 2019 and is doing a wonderful job. The beds were comfy, breakfast was delicious, and within walking distance of many fun attractions. This was my first time staying and a bed and breakfast and did not know what to expect. Cynthia has set the bar very high for all other B&Bs to live up to. I highly recommend Decker House.

Usually when you see a house like this you are on a public tour, and you merely get to gawk into the rooms from the hallways, taking care to stay within the rope barriers and not touch anything. The Decker House is on the National Register of Historic Places, but unlike most such houses you actually get to stay there! It was restored by a private foundation in a way that no normal business owner could afford, so it is in unbelievably beautiful condition. The Decker House is like a time machine; after a few hours there I imagined being in another era. The B&B owner Sally is a wonderful hostess and a fantastic cook who prepares an elegant breakfast. There are few things I've experienced that I'd describe as other-worldly, but the Decker House is certainly one of them.
