Oak Tree Inn Missouri Valley

Although we had made a reservation, when we arrived we were told that the king room we reserved was not available. In fact, they had no rooms available at all! They have an agreement with the railroad apparently, and so we were out of luck. This is the first time in 42 years of traveling we have had an experience like this. The worst thing was that I then had to call the Wyndam reservation line to tell them to cancel the reservation. That person was polite but did not understand English very well and it took a long time to get through to her that the hotel did not honor the reservation.

Clean and comfortable, but definitely needs work. Was surprised to see that there were no coffee makers in the room. The desk clerk told me they took them out because they were being stolen. The door locks are very tempermental, but I was told they are being replaced. I understand that it is in the process of being updated, so hopefully will be better. Much too pricey for the condition of the place.

Comfortable room, spacious with a good king bed. Pennys Diner was next door. Hotel reception is run from the Diner. Food was good. Price of room seemed a little high for the amenities. No elevator but security was good due to only interior access.
