After a long drive arrived in the middle of a wedding. In the chaos my brother and I were given a drink, and a look around the place while we waited. The next morning there was breakfast and champagne in the kitchen. The place was vibrant at times and quiet at others, there were conversations with strangers, metals keys, and creaky floors like something from another time. The hotel owner, David, was a pleasure and we were there for the first day he got his new breakfast bell. Go if you're looking for something different than you expect. I plan to go again.

Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Wrong keys in lockbox. The entire hotel was empty and all the rooms were open so we were still able to get into the room we had booked. The room was dirty, dusty, and musty. The furniture and building as a whole was in disrepair. There were dead flowers and open water bottles in the hallway. There were more bottles, a used soap bar, an almost empty decanter and other signs that the room had clearly not been cleaned. While exiting the building, a man rushed past my husband and I and ignored us completely not even making eye contact. We thought at that point that someone had broken into the building . I now assume he was an employee since he was going in and out of the adjacent building with linens. We emailed and left messages for the owner, and he never responded. What is worse, after seeing images of the owner online, I’m pretty sure I saw him by the side of the building when we first arrived. He completely ignored us then also. In the end, we had an Erie feeling and were not satisfied with anything so we left and decided against spending the night. Stay away from this house of horrors.

I stayed at the Degas House during Jazz Fest this past weekend. It is a historic landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully appointed with period furnishings and art reproductions of Degas’s work. My favorite place is the courtyard which has so much character! The porches are the place that I saw most people hanging out. They have breakfast, a bar and a beautiful grand piano.
