honestly for the price you pay, as a solo female traveler, you get a relatively clean place to stay with privacy and there is also a locked gate. Alot of locals say that it is not a safe neighbourhood so you still have to be safe and smart (reducing bus travel vs taking ubers instead (although 9 bus dropping you off directly in front definetely helps!), avoiding walking at night, etc). Also the pedestrian lights at the main bus intersection do not work (youd have to cross intuitively when theres incoming cars or J walk right in front of Nola Inn to make it to the other side) so its harder to access the main busses (i would take ubers in those cases).
I personally felt safe when i stayed there for 1 week, the staff was so friendly (especially Sam!). There's also a gas station/convenience store right next door so water/snacks are nearby.

My experience at this hotel was very unpleasant and the room was not what I expected I feel that this room was very very trashy!! Before i left Houston ok a call was placed to the hotel 3 different times for confirmation of concern about a deposit, went through my mobile app to set up my reservation no where it said anything about a deposit of any kind. I was told by the person (Female) that there was no deposit unless I didn't have a reservation. I ask how could I request to be on another floor instead of being on the 1st floor was told to let the person know during my check in. Three different times I have called and agent from the app called the hotel I explained my concern and ect. After getting to the hotel to check in I was told I had to pay a deposit I told the agent at the desk what I was told and ect I paid the deposit I ask could I be on another floor and not on the first floor, I was told no that the hotel had no other rooms on the floors, but yet instead that was a lie, there was other customers checking in and they wasn't refused a different floor. I ask for a manger was told there was no manager there on property. I get to the room and it was trash rate -F, and have videos

I had a horrible experience with this Hotel. I pre-booked my reservation through THIS website for my birthday for the price quoted online. Drove 7 hours only to arrive during Superbowl weekend, and the Hotel cancelled my reservation once we arrived. They said I did it, but THEY did it so they can charge me the inflated price for that weekend. Originally booked for $200 for the weekend, we wound up paying triple the amount I had reserved the room for. They then told me there weren't any other rooms available for the same price and I couldn't stay there unless I agreed to the inflated price. Hotels.com was unable to get them to reverse THEIR cancellation. I used all my spending money to pay for this 1-star hotel. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
