It was a ridiculous situation with the elevators it could take 30 min to get from the bottom to your floor , everyone had to wait for a long time , staff member said there was water damage and only 2 out of 4 were working, just not properly the lights went off on one group of people , I couldn’t get an answer because of the language barrier to tell us where the stairs were and if we could use them ! Staff at front desk was pretty nice except the one that obviously didn’t want to be there.. the others spoke no English!!

Stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The room quality is exceptionally high for a Holiday Inn and there is a lot of security at the hotel. I was arriving and departing from the Amtrak station and the location was ideal. Most people probably wouldn’t, but I found I could manage to wheel my luggage along the street, but I’m intrepid like that! It’s just over 10 minutes walk. I tried the breakfast one morning which was a la carte and I had some amazing blueberry pancakes, much better than I expected from a hotel bistro. It’s an easy walk to Canal Street going mostly past office buildings. You don’t need to encounter the party district if you don’t want to.

The hotel reception area is nice, staff very pleasant and very welcoming, the coffee stand they have is nice. The location is good, 5min walk to canal street and 10mins to Bourbon Street. Theres an outside car park next door to the hotel which costs $25 for 24hrs so we used that. The only reason for 3 stars is due to the air conditioning in the room. It is a floor mounted unit next to the bed. You would have no chance sleeping in that bed as the cold air would blow directly onto you. Luckily we had 2 beds to used the other. It still didn’t solve the problem as the air conditioning is so loud, like a Jet Engine. Other than that the room was fine and it had a decent gym and outside pool area.
