In attended a conference at the Senator Inn and everything was amazing. At check-in I was greeted by Lizzie who was very knowledgeable about the property and all that Augusta had to offer. I booked a massage with Arthur and I must say it was the best massage I have ever had. The food was amazing and the pizza baked in their pizza oven was Fantastic! Looking forward to coming for a weekend getaway in the near future!!

Never again Review of The Senator Spa Pending review A very special weekend that brought my daughters and I together was marred by the Senator Inn and Spa. Our time together is precious and infrequent. This was a big disappointment. The main attraction is the mineral pool, which features front and center on the hotel website. For my pregnant daughter this was going to be a great, relaxing way to enjoy our time together. The pool was closed the entire time we were there. No responsibility or regrets on the part of the hotel staff. Simple requests were not met (a third bath robe in a room for four would be an easy way to start to appease us, but we were told that we would be charged $20 extra). The staff was indifferent and unhelpful. They said we could use the hot tub, sauna and steam room, but of course these are not recommended for my pregnant daughter. The restaurant was on open for breakfast on Sunday, and was mediocre at best. Not open on Monday. So our one stop stay turned into driving elsewhere to eat and find activities. We could have stayed at any hotel. Never again.

Immediately upon approaching the front desk it was clear the receptionist was having a rough day and we were about to understand why. We checked in and the lobby of the hotel smelled like an old house that had been smoked in for decades. I brushed it off because many of these buildings are older and sometimes the air is stale. However upon entering our room it smelled like someone had just smoked a fresh pack. No shade to anyone who smokes, you do you, but it was so bad in the room our eyes and noses were burning and still are the next morning. In addition the room was really dingy. There were stains on the carpet, paint peeling off the mopboards and the bed sloped downward at the headboard. I’m in the area for a work conference and it just wasn’t feasible 1) not to get any sleep and 2) to show up smelling like musty hotel room and cigarette smoke. The photos of this place are miserably deceiving. If you’re a super adaptable person and don’t care, this inn might be a good deal for you but we hightailed it out of there as fast as we could and transferred our stay to the Hampton Inn where the rooms and facilities are clean and the staff friendly. I don’t fault the front desk clerk. When we were prepping to check in she was dealing with another unhappy customer and refunding their booking. I hope the Inn gives her a raise because with the state of the place, I imagine her workdays are an exercise in fielding complaints and frustration from angry customers. The whole transaction felt like a bait and switch. The online photos and reviews make it seem like an oasis to retreat to. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. There are plenty of clean, reasonable places in the area—you’ll be much happier.
