Belle Isle Motel

Perfect stay close to Acadia and allowed us to avoid the chaos of Bar Harbor. Old school for sure. Would 100% recommend for a more affordable stay

Belle Isle Motel is slightly better than camping, when it is raining out. We stuffed a hand towel in the top of the front door. Need to block up the large gap in one corner so flies from the walkway wouldn't enter our room. Flies-yes-flies. Photos do not show the garbage containers on the walkway in front of the rooms. Garbage that we requested to be emptied three times over two days. Each time we were told "I'll tell someone about it." The containers were FULL when we checked in on August 11. We booked for 3 nights but stayed 2. They would not give us a refund for the third night. I understand why they charge you 7 days in advance. Vacancy sign was on each night although it was August and many hotels had no vacancy. We had the continental breakfast once. Once was to often. Second morning we went to Sylvia's Cafe which was a wonderful breakfast. Well worth the drive to Sylvia's, although we found it on our way out of town. Couldn't stay one more night. Soft foam bed, if you like foam beds. We thought it was to soft and smelled. Overall room was smaller than an inside cruise cabin. I need to say something nice--Belle Isle does have a decent location.

Very clean, but very small room. (Imagine "Tiny home" experience with room for bed, one night stand and a shelf, a Tiny desk fridge, microwave and toaster. Enough room for one person to move around. I liked the idea of grab and go bag breakfast. Although small, l would recommend.
