SEA BREEZE MOTEL

This is an adequate motel that appears to have had a recent facelift. It is no where near the designation of a “hotel”. It has a nice, distant ocean view. Staff is helpful, room is clean, continental breakfast adequate. There was no microwave in our room. Ten minutes from downtown Bar Harbor.

First, the good: it's clear they are trying to upgrade for a nicer experience. The view is beautiful, and the place is located really close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The room was overall clean, and the AC worked well. Price was good as spring was only just hitting, though I'd never pay the busy season costs for what we got. There's still a lot to be done. Lighting in the room was awful. Two very low lamps, no overhead lighting, but the little porch lights stayed on all night and day. Only one bedside table for two beds, so we dragged something else over for the second bed. Mini fridge was barely cold. The WiFi was nonexistent. We could connect, technically, but couldn't even do a basic Google search. We could hear everything above us and to the sides, which meant when the guests upstairs left at 3am, we were up listening to their stomping and rolling suitcases. The continental breakfast was the worst I've ever seen: old shriveled fruit, empty coffee, and some instant oatmeal. The cleaning supplies were kept next to it all—yuck. A couple members of staff seemed friendly, most seemed indifferent. The poor room lighting carried over to the main sign off the road. If you're returning in the dark, there is no light shining on the sign. There's technically a light there, but it's never on. We passed it and had to turn around, then pull in carefully as the drive is awkward in the dark. This is also, by definition, still a motel not hotel as they're trying to market it. Again, there were some pros but we both agreed we wouldn't stay again, even for the decent rate.

Was pleasantly surprised with this stay! Room was clean with a gorgeous view. Bathroom could use a little updating but was not a problem. Breakfast was nice, staff was helpful. Very quiet! Pool was warm!!! A great way to visit the area without breaking the bank - especially in peak season!
