Boothbay Harbor Inn

Basic rooms with nice little patios. Parking is a little awkward. The view across the bay is nice and there are lots of walking distance options for meals.

We have stayed here for the last several years since our favorite hotel down the road closed. While the on-site staff are friendly and helpful, the corporate office (which runs this place as well as most of the other big hotels in town) clearly does not care about this property in the least. They know they can charge a high price for the view, and they do. The rest they ignore. They used to have a very basic continental breakfast (juice, coffee, toast, bagels, etc.). Now, there’s just coffee and a few tea bags. No food. No juice. Not even napkins or paper towels to pick up the coffee spills. The bar is open only one night a week. Many of the bath and hand towels are worn, frayed and/or stained. No room freshening at all. Cleanliness gets a B. Beds are soft and on the older side but adequate. Air conditioners work, thankfully, but are loud enough to require ear plugs for a decent night’s sleep. The mini fridges froze the food and drinks in every room we had. Of the 7 multi-night reservations for our family- all made a year in advance - 2 were messed up: not confirmed and then double billed, which took a considerable effort to correct. This hotel could be so much more. Now, it’s just a prime example of corporate greed sucking the value out of every asset it acquires.

This was an awesome hotel. Check in was a bit rough because it was very confusing as to which building to go to but our room was awesome. Pay the extra for the harbor view it is so worth it. We were able to walk right outside to our table and chairs and sit on the water. Fantastic location and the room was adorable and clean.
