Comfort Suites (Biddeford)

We were surprised at the poor service we received here as we have stayed at other Holiday Inn Express hotels and have always had a good experience. My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as it was close by to a work assignment I had. For starters we arrived at 3:45pm. No one was at the front desk and we waited over 5 minutes for someone to appear. We wondered why there were about 15 people sitting in the lobby staring at us. When the front desk worker finally appeared she told us we were not able to check in until 4pm and to wait in the lobby/breakfast area. Ok, so that explained why so many others were waiting in the lobby and were focused on the front desk. So we joined the others waiting. At exactly 4pm the front desk worker motioned for the people closest to the front desk to come forward to check in. Someone else had arrived after us but before 4pm so we wondered how the lone front desk worker was going to keep track of who arrived first and so on. When our turn came to check in it was 4:15pm. So much for a 4pm check-in! Since the hotel did not seem busy it seemed a bit ridiculous to wait until exactly 4pm to check all of the guests in and with only one front desk worker. When we arrived at our room we noticed an odor like perfume or cologne. After the hassle of checking in we decided to just deal with it as opposed to asking for another room. When we returned to our room at the end of the next day our card keys did not work. So we trudged back down to the front desk. The front desk worker re-activated our keys and no apology was given. We asked why our keys were de-activated and we were told a mistake was made and the keys were only activated for one night versus two. Upon check-out I asked for a printed receipt as I needed this for reimbursement purposes for my job. The front desk worker appeared to struggle with this request. After several minutes she asked if I could accept an email receipt instead. I told her that if possible I really wanted a printed one. After several more minutes she finally figured out how to print the receipt. During our entire two day stay the young lady at the front desk was the only one we saw working it. We really felt sorry for her as she seemed quite overwhelmed. It was obvious she made the mistake with the card keys and was not trained on how to print a receipt. The area across from the parking lot was under construction so we had to endure some construction noise during our stay. We didn't have any complaints about supplies, cleanliness or breakfast. I would not recommend staying at this hotel until they can improve their customer service experience.

Needed to stay somewhere while I had some work done on my home. This is. a really nice Holiday Inn near the Maine Mall. Very clean, spacious rooms, Keurig coffee maker in the room, good breakfast, comfortable bed, nice staff at check in and check out, and best of all plenty of hot water for my shower! It snowed while I was there and I walk with a cane. Two very nice staff assisted me at check out. Aziz cleaned off my car and Shane took my bag out for me. Above and beyond.what is expected. Recommend highly and would definitely stay again.

This hotel is convenient to Turnpike and accessible to shopping and food in and around Biddeford. They have just recently renovated their lobby and breakfast area and that is very nice. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are very clean and beds are comfortable. I was told that renovation would be ongoing through the winter and I am hoping that is the case as the rooms are in dire need of revamping. The wallpaper is peeling off and furniture shows its age. We stay here every year in September and have noticed the decline. Fingers crossed that by the time we come back next year, the rooms will be updated.
