Great staff, clean hotel. Comfortable room

Our experience at this "recently renovated" facility was less than stellar, certainly less than I expect from Hilton. Here are the irritants. 1) There was only 1 elevator running, and it had a constant shuddering motion every time it stopped at any floor. 2) The heat/AC in the room was VERY LOUD and had a rumbling sound that interfered with sleep. 3) The faucet in the bathroom could not be graduated in force between a trickle and full-on, which made it difficult to use. On a positive note, I accidentally left a couple items of clothing in a drawer. When I called the hotel the next day, the items had been found and the hotel agreed to send them to me (at my expense, of course).

This seemed to be highly rated on TripAdvisor when compared with the other white marsh options, which doesn’t speak highly of white marsh clientele. Everything seemed beat up ….. and judging from the list of do’s and dont’s at the front desk, i suspect it has. Definitely not one of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed at. On the plus side - my usual 3 criteria were met - it did seem safe, no unsavory characters hanging around, it was clean, nothing crawled out of the bed at night to bite me and quietness was good except for the heater but I’m super sensitive to that and I’m never happy with the hvac noise in hotels. The front desk could use some charm lessons - we got a look when we checked in that seemed to say “what do you want ? What are you doing here?” - although it seemed to improve with later interactions In a pinch, I’d stay again if I really had to. It seems like it is trying to change and that’s good. But it still needs a lot of work if it wants to put its best face forward.
