Shoreham Hotel

It wasn't a bad hotel the room was clean and the bathroom was clean but my boyfriend couldn't sleep because the gift shop next to the hotel plays loud music all night long.

We liked that the hotel was small and old/quaint. Others have noted that some of the floors are not completely level, etc. but that is what we expect in an older hotel like this. Our room was on the 3rd (top) floor with a view of the ocean and was very quiet. Mid-summer and the room A/C kept us cool. Shower size was fine. Lack of tub did not matter; if we wanted to be dunked, the ocean was right out front :-) Due to our own mistake (not Shoreham's) with our original booking, we had to add a night after the fact, which was somewhat complicated because we had booked through an agency (Chase Travel). But even though the hotel was full, Dianne was able to have us keep our room for the extra night. Thank you, Dianne!! While we enjoyed the hotel itself, we didn't care so much for the boardwalk. We are just not boardwalk people, I suppose. On the plus side, it is not on the arcade end of the boardwalk, but in the central/restaurant section. So if that is what you're after, this is perfect. The in-house restaurant (Shenanigans) would have been nice (we sat outside) except for the lounge act that was so loud we could not escape - two pianists who thought they were comedians but were just (extremely) foul-mouthed and not much more. They didn't even have good singing voices. If I had gone there with children, or friends for that matter, we would have left our food on the table and walked away.

Although the stairs could be a bit much , the rest was great! Very old building and sparsely decorated, I found it quite comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the water was always hot. It was also very clean. The view was beautiful and very interesting at times. The restaurant downstairs is a well kept secret! Their food was fantastic and reasonably priced. I would stay there again, just maybe on the second floor. Diane was wonderful to talk to. She knows a lot of local history!
