Stanley completely ruined what had otherwise been a great stay.
I’ve been at this hotel for almost a week, and during that time I’ve been in and out of the executive lounge multiple times. The room I’m staying in includes lounge access, so this wasn’t my first visit. It is more than reasonable to assume that over the course of nearly a week, I would have witnessed staff ask at least one guest for their room number, I watched countless guests walk in and help themselves to food, drinks, and snacks. I never once saw Stanley—or anyone else on the staff—stop those guests to ask for a room number or verify access. I was never asked either.
Then tonight, Stanley decided to stop me and ask for my room number.
After five days of seeing everyone else walk in without being questioned, I felt singled out. I was the only Black woman/person there at the time, and I left feeling profiled and unwelcome. I can’t say what Stanley’s intentions were, but I know exactly how his actions made me feel. I couldn’t shake the feeling that, despite being Black himself, he was trying to impress his white coworkers by singling me out.
If verifying lounge access is the policy, then enforce it consistently with every guest. Don’t ignore everyone else for days and then suddenly decide to question one person. That isn’t professionalism—it creates the appearance of selective treatment and leaves guests wondering why they were the one chosen.
I expected much better from Marriott. No guest should leave feeling embarrassed, targeted, or like they have to prove they belong somewhere they are entitled to be. Management should seriously address how lounge access is being enforced and ensure that every guest is treated fairly and consistently.

Just stayed here for a weekend girls' trip, and absolutely loved this hotel. Would definitely stay here again next time I come to Boston!
Pros: Rooms are very clean, roomy, spacious. Absolutely LOVED the bathroom - great layout and design and water pressure. Location cannot be more convenient - literally you are at the Red Line entrance as soon as you step outside the hotel. Walking distance within 1-2 blocks to a number of fantastic restaurants of different price points. Walking distance to the Longfellow Bridge, a lovely walk across the Charles River to enjoy the view.
Cons: The construction in the lobby is annoying - you get shunted to check-in on the 3rd floor for now, and it's a very temporary makeshift setup. It gets the job done, but it's just not a great experience.

There is no complimentary bottle of water in the room when you arrived on a hot summer day! And they charge $6/bottle to be sent to your room. So buy water and save a trip after you check in and ready to rest. I think it is ridiculously inconvenient and impact the experience of stay for the price of a bottle of water. Not sure what was the customer centric thinking behind this.
