Moffett House Inn

The Moffett House is a great base from which to explore and enjoy Provincetown. Located smack-dab in the center of town, the guesthouse offers bikes to explore the beaches. I suggest room 3: although it has a shared bath, there is a skylight and a ceiling fan, which are perfect for the cool P-town evenings.

I went onto the Moffett House website and booked directly with Moffett House a room for 2 adults for a Saturday night, to which I received an email reply that the booking was confirmed. I subsequently received a notification that the booking is cancelled. No apology given; just a terse "We cancelled the reservation" because a 2 night minimum stay is required over weekends and signed off with a wholly inappropriate "laughing" smiley. I have no issues if there is a minimum stay policy but this should be made clear on the hotel's website. Further, a booking should not have been allowed on their website and a confirmation of booking should not have been sent. What I found particularly disappointing was the fact that there was no apology for the cancellation and the smiley was grating. The only positive thing I can say is that at least the cancellation was done swiftly (within the day), so I had time to re-book elsewhere. This is why I gave 2 stars rather than 1 star. (Please note the May 2022 date for "when did you travel" is the date of booking, rather than date of travel.)

Moffett House is a great affordable option if you want to be in the heart of PTown. we were there in mid August when the house was full of guests yet it was very quiet, and sharing a bathroom was never a problem for us. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable and we appreciated the small fridge/freezer and sink in the room, as well as use of the full kitchen downstairs available for use. The manager, Leo, was extremely friendly and accommodating. The only concern I had was that the one day we wanted to go bike riding only one bicycle was available. So I suggest if that’s important to you, reserve your free bikes as soon as you arrive (you get to keep the same bike for youre entire stay).
