Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the red lion in the September. It was a great authentic experience at a historical hotel. They have done a great job, maintaining historic elements and balancing them with modern amenities. Beds were extremely comfortable, our room was spacious, in room Nespresso was appreciated! Games were available in common area. Fitness center was great! Very centrally located. Staff was friendly and welcoming. On-site dining was impeccable! Also appreciated the morning coffee in the main lounge

I don't ordinarily write reviews but I feel travelers must be warned. This hotel is awful. Do not be fooled by its reputation. It is in a dire state of disrepair, broken, crumbling, dirty and altogether unkempt. I completely agree with Nuggy's review dated September 10. We were uncomfortable and couldn't wait to leave. Most tragic of all is that this landmark historic hotel, left in its current state, will soon be lost because nothing is being done to preserve it. In fact, the "preservation" efforts they purport to undertake is nothing but a euphemism for avoiding capital repairs and putting money back into the property. I had grown up hearing about the Red Lion Inn as a storied hotel, one that many parents loved for Berkshire camp visiting days. What a heartbreaking tragedy it was to finally stay here as an adult and see the property has experienced nothing but neglect.

We had the unique opportunity to have a tour of the Red Lion Inn with an incredibly knowledgeable long-time employee. It was fascinating. The hotel is a living museum. It is a historical treasure. We also were treated to a talk by the owner about the history of the family currently running the business. It was such a unique experience and special to all who attended. We saw guest books of celebrities like Oprah and Jay-Z who have visited this storied hotel. The food was perfect - a buffet with great options and quality. Thank you to Tim and Sarah for an extraordinary experience!
