Edgewater Hotel & Waterpark

I was super hesitant to book the Edgewater due to negative reviews. We don’t have a room for the night and almost everything was booked solid. We decided to just drive over and check to see if it was going to be tolerable for a night. The kind woman working the desk had another employee show us two rooms before we decided to stay. I must say, our stay was great, and I’m pretty picky! The rooms were very clean, yes, somewhat worn and tired, but very clean. The waterpark was great! The lifeguards were constantly walking around, kindly correcting any behavior that didn’t follow the rules, and it was very clean in there too! I’m happy we took a chance-special thanks to the young woman working the desk on Labor Day weekend (Sat). She was super sweet, helpful and kind in every interaction we experienced and witnessed!

The place is old and very run down. We went for grandma marathon and it cost us 982.00 for 2 nights. They knew it was a very busy weekend and they were not remotely prepared. The continental breakfast did not even have pancake batter. Would not recommend this worn out place

I stayed at the Edgewater Hotel and I honestly don’t understand how it maintains its reputation. Let’s start with the only positive: the view of Lake Superior is genuinely beautiful. Waking up to that scenery is the one thing this place has going for it. Unfortunately, everything else fell apart. The hotel itself was dirty—common areas and the room both felt neglected, like basic upkeep just isn’t a priority. For the price, that’s unacceptable. What really stood out (in a bad way) was the staff. Interactions felt condescending and, at times, outright rude. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was inconveniencing them just by being there. To make matters worse, the listed hours for amenities were inaccurate. We planned around using them, only to find they weren’t open as advertised. That kind of misinformation is frustrating and easily avoidable. Between the cleanliness issues, poor service, and misleading information, I wouldn’t stay here again—and I wouldn’t recommend it unless major improvements are made. The lake view alone isn’t enough to make up for everything else.
