HAMPTON INN - SUITES VICKSBURG

It may have just been the weekend we were there, but the hotel was a zoo. People drinking with full bottles of tequila, brandy & whiskey in the lobby/breakfast area in the evening as well as in the morning. It was like a party with lots of lots talking, hooting & hollering to go along with drinking. The staff was doing nothing to get the situation under control & it was not a very family-friendly environment, in my opinion. The check-in lines were very long, too, with just one very sweet lady doing her best, considering she was alone. I just feel something should have been done to control the party atmosphere in the lobby area because it was very loud in our 1st floor room. Also, none of the food or paper products were the normal Hampton Inn stuff. They had pancakes on a stick in a big baking dish, covered with foil & the waffle batter was different & tasted weird. The ladies who worked breakfast were very sweet, but it just wasn't the normal Hampton experience.

BEWARE STAYING HERE! HOTEL HAS BED BUGS! We have been faithful Hilton customers for years and have never experienced one issue. Not one! Until we stayed at this hotel. After settling in for the night, we ran upon bugs on our phones and in our beds. After finding bugs in the bed, we did not stick around to find more. We immediately packed up our things. I went downstairs to talk to the employees working the front desk and was told they would switch us to a new room. Zero apologies. Zero remorse. Zero “I’m so sorry for the trouble.” Absolutely nothing. All they stated was that they would see about getting us a partial credit. We were staying in a double bed room for the night and all rooms with double beds were taken so they put us in a room with a King bed. I was informed they would notify the hotel manager and that they would escalate the issue with Hilton corporate. I called Hilton myself a few days later after not receiving a phone call much less an email from the hotel Manager. I was given a case number and was notified it would be 48 hours before I heard anything and when I did hear something, it would be via email from the Hotel Manager. A WEEK LATER….still nothing. Just a partial credit on my Hilton account. After calling Hilton, AGAIN, I was finally given the full credit I originally requested. I was also informed from the customer service rep with Hilton that the hotel stated “upon inspection, no bugs were found.” This hotel is run poorly, did not inspect the room properly and does not care about Hilton customers. We will not be staying at this hotel again, nor any other Hilton hotel in this town. Inspect your beds if you stay here! Apparently they don’t inspect thoroughly! Your hotel is only as clean as the employees you hire! In addition to this issue, the hotel is not clean and is unsafe. They have a security guy that "patrols" the parking lot to keep cars from getting broken in to. Will never recommend this place! Highly disappointed!

A very nice renovation has turned this Hampton back into a very worthwhile stop. In my last visit there several years back I thought the basic layout had great possibilities but that it was in bad need of an upgrade. It got it. This hotel isn’t the standard boxy model, more spacious and attractive. Comfortable, good service, nice location across from the National Park. I give it high marks, and it’s back on my list of good places to stop along I-20.
