Motel 6 St Joseph

I know its a "cheap" hotel. I booked it for something like 85 bucks on Hotels.com. The pictures looked great! I made a mistake and didn't read reviews. I arrived and there were questionable looking characters wandering around the parking lot and entrance to the front desk, but I ignored it. I checked in and pulled up to a second building (I thought it was shut down or condemned at first) and told my 19 yr old son to just stay in the car with our belongings. I went to our room and peeked in. Looked clean. Smelled strongly or cigarette smoke. The door and all other doors i walked by, looked like they had been kicked in or broken into. The lady 2 rooms down was mean mugging me and my son while smoking weed. She was yelling at someone in the parking lot about the deposit. I told my son we wouldn't be staying there. I didnt feel safe and didnt like idea of our belongings in the car while we attempted to sleep in the sketchy hotel. I told staff I didnt feel safe. They were kind. Said they would immediately refund my deposit but I would have to call hotels.com about the refund. Then, the manager asked me not to write a bad review.

Rooms are sparse but beds are comfy, water is hot, ac is quiet and the TV works. My best friend and our dogs stayed for under $100, so if you don't need the extras like fridge, mic, or shampoo...it is fine. It was quiet a d we slept well.

This was one of the worst Motel 6 locations I have ever encountered. It was in really bad condition. The staff was not helpful, or even polite. Don't leave a light on for me; I won't be back.
