HOLIDAY INN ST LOUIS-FOREST PK/HAMPTON AVE

A ruined Vacation! The only good things I can say about this hotel is the staff was pleasant, the outdoor pool was nice and the bedding was clean enough. Other than that it really should only be considered a one star location (Who decides this anyway? We need to talk!). As soon as I walked in I noticed the worn and dirty carpet and old outdated wall decorations that pretend to look upscale. We had to wait about 30 minutes to check in as there was some sort of emergency happening that needed immediate assistance. Not really sure what that was about, but it seemed sketchy. We should have left at that time, but we were tired from traveling. The elevator was not working well. It made a lot of clunking noise, didn’t always come, and the door completely closed on me once. Our room had a distinct musty marijuana order, the sliding patio doors didn’t shut or lock completely but there was a make shift bar/ wedge to lock them. The ceiling in our bathroom had a large cluster of black curly hair stuck to it. Uncomfortably, our room had an attached door to another room which thankfully locked well enough (Somebody did attempt to go through at one point). The room did not have a phone, either. In the middle of the first night our neighbors started yelling at each other and woke us up. It went on for hours, we weren’t able to call the office as we didn’t have a room phone. I considered calling 911. We left the hotel before the sun came up and decided to try to make the most of the day knowing that we only had one more night and then we were out of there. We brought all of our valuables with us, though. The second night the neighbors started yelling again and woke us up about 11ish. We felt trapped in our room, afraid to run into our disorderly neighbors in the hall. I considered calling 911 again. However, my friend decided to be brave enough to venture to the office to complain. He was told that our neighbors are an older couple who have been living there for 2 years and that the hotel really hasn't had any complaints about them for a while. So, yes they were aware of the situation. My friend explained that last night was bad too. The only reply was that we should have let them know last night and we could have moved rooms (in the middle of the night?!?! Come on! Maybe we shouldn’t have been placed right next to them in the first place!). The employee did say he would have them quiet down. And they did until about 1:30 and the racket started up again. We packed up and left for good, again before the sun up. We asked for our money back for our troubles, but was refused. We had to drive back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with little to no sleep. Do not stay at this Hotel. If you do, make sure it is far, far away from room 407.

There's a difference between "shabby and careworn" and "old and dirty." Forest Park Hotel is definitely the latter. If you are on a tight budget and just need a room in this particular area and can't find any alternatives, then you *might* consider this as an option. The room was mostly clean but there was evidence of abuse and broken items everywhere, including the bathroom. There was only one bath towel in the bathroom and there was no toilet paper! The location is noisy and not particularly safe-feeling. You could do worse, I guess, but I had my daughter stay at a friend's house rather than in the room at this hotel. When I tried to check out, I couldn't even find a human being and ended up just leaving the keycards on the desk.

Been here on and off for a little over a year and haven’t been disappointed yet. This hotel is conveniently located near the highway and surrounded by many food options. The staff is amazing. Whether it be Ms. Riya extending grace for a late check out. Ms.Alex and her great service as front desk reception always an in and out process. Mr. VJ accommodating any need(s) I have or Mr. Jeff with his alertness monitoring the place making sure no randoms come in and out bothering the establishment or guest. Highly recommend to come if you need business done or just a quick getaway.
