The Dude Rancher hotel has history and is not part of a chain which piqued my interest. The reviews I read were fairly nice so I thought let's give it a try. The lobby had a rustic charm with lemon infused water displayed. The staff both at check in and check out were very pleasant. The room, while dated, was very clean and smelled fresh. The tub/shower combo was helpful for a relaxing soak after my long day of driving from ND. My only reason for a 4/5 review is that the AC unit in the room makes a loud *snap* sound when it turns on and off. I was tired enough that it didn't wake me up, but did startle me a few times before bed and in the morning getting ready. This morning, I used the shower and the water pressure and temperature was fantastic and unexpected given the building being older. There was both a refrigerator and microwave in the room. A really cool perk of this hotel is if you pay $8 prior to check out, you can get a choice of five breakfast meals at the restaurant next door (which serves breakfast until 2pm so no rush). Overall, for downtown Billings, MT and being a short walking distance to restaurants and shops it was an incredible value.

Driving around Montana in August and stayed here for two nights to enjoy Billings and see the Montana Fair and Kip Moore Concert on Sunday night. The motel was great, breakfast was an extra $8 dollars, but was HUGE!! Great Coffee and OJ, lots of Bacon, Eggs and potatoes etc. also had a Breakfast Burrito and as you can see, it’s massive. It is an old but fun motel. Worth the stay and very economical too.

Centrally located in Billings. Funky motel that has seen better days. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room A/C was noisy and barely worked. beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. A bright spot was the huge $8 breakfast and the very nice wait staff. Won’t be my first choice for a return trip but would stay there again in a pinch. Price was okay.
