Budget Motel

Clean and retro charming and everything worked. The other reviews are from the same year I stayed there (it came up on my Facebook memories) and my memory of this place is a good one! The owner was great! No coffee/tea maker in the room but he lent us a hot kettle. I have a fond memory of him riding his little girl's bike with her in the yard. I can't understand the terrible reviews. People expect everything to be like Las Vegas now!

It's quite the budget motel, but it's not all that bad. You get what you pay for and this place is very affordable. Our room was very clean and spacious. The beds weren't all that comfortable, but then we're spoiled by having memory foam mattresses at home. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The room had a huge flat-screen TV with loads of channels, a microwave, and a mini-fridge. There was no phone. It was very quiet during the night due to its country setting. All in all, it was a pleasant stay except for the hardness of the beds.

We stayed here as a last resort because our original hotel (Radisson) did not have availability for the last day of our vacation. I usually avoid anything with the word 'budget' in the name and this one was the perfect seedy motel you might see in a movie about, well, a seedy motel. On the good side, the a/c (wall unit) worked and the TV was a more recent model. Other than that, the mattresses and pillows were very flat, the bedding and towels nearly threadbare, and the bathroom had three lightbulbs - one was missing out of its socket, one was burned out and one was working. There were numerous hairs (not ours) in the bathtub. The stairs leading to the upstairs level were rusty and littered with cigarette butts and trash. We could hear people talking and making noise in the rooms next to and below us all night. It was a short night for us, so we survived it, but I'd never want to stay here again. To think it cost more than our stay at Radisson, because of its location, is kind of crazy.
