We reserved a room here MONTHS in advance, got a confirmation Email and everything. Tried to stop and do our paperwork during morning hours on our way through Lincoln to Springfield, IL for the State Fair on Aug. 21st. We knew it would be very late when we returned to stay since we were attending a concert, and didn't want to have to do paperwork then. They would NOT let us. So we slid in at 11:45 pm to get our room and they gave our room away to someone else!!!. Offered a room on the 3rd floor, but not a king like we requested, and were told the elevator was broken so we'd have to do the stairs. One other room was offered on main level but key card operator didn't work and staff would have to let us in and out of room each time. What kind of BS is that?! What kind of hotel just ignores reservations and does what they want?! So we had to drive home in pouring rain so hard you couldn't see the road, tired, hot, weary. Luckily we don't live hours and hours away. We got home after 1 am. NEVER will we try to book there again. We suggest not staying here so this doesn't happen to you!! Poor business practices and they obviously don't care about their customers. Bye, Comfort Inn!!

I made reservations for two rooms at the Comfort Inn & Suites near Route 66, so that my family and I could go to the IL State Fair. We checked in at 4 pm, put our things in our 3rd floor room, then headed out to the Fair. We returned to the hotel property at approximately 11:30 p.m. While prepping for bed, my son and his girlfriend found a crazy ant situation. Specifically, there was an infestation of ants on the tile flooring, crawling up his legs and across the wall behind the beds. My son and I returned to the front desk and explained the ant situation to the front desk clerk. While she appeared overwhelmed, she readily reassigned the occupants of one of our rooms to a 2nd floor room - where we found the door propped open but no obvious occupants. Then my son found ants in the bedding of the new room. After my son relocated to the 2nd floor, my daughter and I inspected our room and found ants in and on the furniture. At this point my family was upset with the infestation and not interested in staying at these facilities. We returned to the front desk, where we explained that we found the bug situation unacceptable and checked out - requesting the manager’s name and hotel contact information. We left the hotel at 12:34 a.m. to make the 3 hour drive home, an inconvenience we had hoped to avoid by staying in the Springfield area. That Monday, when I had been told that the property manager would be available, I called Amber G at 217-735-5800. I explained the situation and was informed by Amber that yes, she had read the notes, that a second room had been assigned, and that no notes existed regarding the second room having ants. Further, because they had given us a 2nd room (therefore we had “messied” 3 rooms that she couldn’t then resale), she would not be honoring my refund request. Amber’s statement that the rooms could not be resold completely negates the fact that all 3 rooms had bugs and should NOT be resold. Amber then told me that she would talk to the Saturday night front desk clerk later that day and that she would call me back. At 4:00 p.m. I called the hotel to speak with Amber and was advised that she had left early for the day. I couldn't recommend this hotel and had I read the reviews over the last year, I wouldn't have stayed. Ants have been an on-going issue here.

⭐ **1 STAR — DO NOT TRUST YOUR RESERVATION HERE** Absolutely unacceptable. I booked a **two-bed room in FEBRUARY** for an August stay. Around 2 p.m. on the day of check-in, I stopped at the hotel while we were driving by. The woman at the front desk looked up my name, confirmed she had my reservation, then pointed to the sign and told me check-in wasn’t until 4 p.m. Fine — I didn’t argue. My daughter and I left and continued with our plans. We returned around **MIDNIGHT**. The night clerk checked me in and gave me room keys. I went upstairs only to discover they had given us a room with **ONE KING BED instead of the two beds I reserved SIX MONTHS AGO**. I went right back downstairs. His response? That was all they had. They must have **oversold the hotel**. Nothing he could do. 🔥 So apparently a confirmed reservation at this hotel means absolutely NOTHING. What makes this even more infuriating is that I HAD ALREADY BEEN THERE THAT AFTERNOON. They had my reservation pulled up in front of them. They knew I was coming back. Yet by midnight, the room I reserved was gone. At that point, I had to cancel because the hotel could not provide what I had booked. After midnight, traveling with my daughter, my choices were to start hunting for another hotel or **drive more than three hours home in the middle of the night**. And unbelievably, this is the **SECOND Choice hotel in ONE MONTH** that has done this to us with a confirmed two-bed reservation. 🔥🔥 A reservation should mean the room is RESERVED. Not “we’ll see what’s left when you get here.” If you need a specific room type — especially if you’re traveling with children or arriving late — I would seriously think twice before trusting a reservation here.
