My dog and I pulled in pretty early in the day, about 4:30 p.m. and were warmly greeted by the front desk. There are about 20 parking spots across the front, all taken, but generous parking on both sides of the building. We had actually planned to get off the road early due to projected heat and summer rainstorms. I’ve been driving the route from Minnesota since college in Colorado and now grandchildren in Colorado; seen a lot of wrecks, tornadoes and hail in all those years. I occasionally still “cannonball” it in about 13-14 hours, but retirement is great; in fact, most often my wife and I are “two-laners”, but I digress. York is generally about half the distance from a lot of the Midwest. It’s just a bed to prevent falling asleep at the wheel or coming into Denver during rush hour. Best Western is a collection of independently owned hotels across the United States. I’m unfamiliar with how they rate their hotels, but this was a “Best Western Plus”; not sure how they arrive at that designation, but it seemed just okay to me, with the room’s freshly updated and nice lobby area. The Applebees is a nice touch as weather can be difficult in this area as mentioned above. The snow can really howl in the Western part of Nebraska and generally it’s a good idea to be done before darkness, deer and 18 wheelers make it more hazardous. Being done and not searching for food is a big plus. The hallways are confusing as mentioned in other reviews here and I got lost once and went outside to re-acclimate myself. The dog rooms are fine, placed in the back of the place with a big grass field. The pool looked lonely and I didn’t try it, although there was nothing wrong with it. Overall, a good experience, very inexpensive, but I would venture on to the Best Western in Kearney which was cleaner, better laid out, and about the same price. Both are good for people on budgets.

Room and king bed was very comfortable. The heating/cooling also worked well. The breakfast was above average and seating was adequate. Breakfast items included cheesy eggs, sausage, eggs & veggie mix, waffle maker with add on items such as nuts, coconuts, crushed Oreos, miniature chocolate chips, etc, cereal including Total cereal, Cheerios, Frosted Flakes, yogurt, English Muffins, Bagels, bread, toaster, sweet rolls, various juices, coffee, tea with 6 types of tea offered. Checkin & Checkout was easy. A good location for easy access for lots of restaurants & gas stations. Also located directly off the Interstate. We’re very happy with this hotel!
