Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas

For those of you who remember when the Waldorf Astoria was the Mandarin Oriental, you will sad as is most of the veteran staff who remember the glory days. The check in process is slow as the desk is staffed by atateurs. Try calling the hotel ahead of time and it is difficult o get a live person. Requests for simple things from housekeeping like dental kits take a long time and the restaurant twist is gone. Zen Kitchen has a great view, but overpriced sushi. The quality does not match the price. No mustard for a turkey club at Peacock Alley...the best they can do is dijonaise. Ditty dishes from room service left over 24 hours in the hallway - clearly understaffed. Late checks for Diamond members? Only until 100pm, then a charge is incurred. I have always been granted 400pm for free. Diamond credits so complicated that even the front desk staff does not know how to apply them. Very nice pool deck - but spartan service. This is not a Waldorf. Barely a Conrad

2.5 stars based solely on the manger or whoever was in charge. Staff is very nice I would like to make that clear. So I go to check in, I have a suite for the first night, regular room for the next two. I inquire about staying in the same suite all three nights, front desk asks the manager, says $150 per night more. All good, I decline. So, my rooms not ready so I go have lunch (on site). Come back an hour later and decide I’ll pay the difference to stay in the same room, front desk says $250 more a night. It was $150 an hour ago. She goes and asks the manager, he says he doesn’t know why the other woman from the front desk told me $150, but he told her $250. Really? You’re telling me in the ten seconds it took from her to walk from him to me she somehow “forgot” her boss said $250 and then out of thin air tells me $150? Yeah, ok. Either your front desk is completely incompetent (they aren’t) or the manager is full of s**t. Don’t quote me a number and then lie about it an hour later. Otherwise, the staff is excellent and the room is nice. The manager or whoever is “quoting” the numbers is bs though. *To be clear the review is not about the price, but about the manager changing the price an hour later and lying about it*

Staff was so friendly and the property was gorgeous. Easy access to the strip with the house car and tram right next door. Food was DELICIOUS. Room was clean with a luxurious tub to soak in. Caleb, Robert, and many other staff members made it super enjoyable!
