Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Carson City

This has been one of the worst guest experiences I have ever experienced. My wife's reservation was cancelled same day as she was approaching the front desk. The FD staff was instructed by the manager to cancel because they had an issue with the room. Brittany was highly under trained and her resolution to merely hang up on a person when asked if they had at least secured another venue is such an egregious failure of hospitality. I would say they would have to raise their standard of hospitality, but after this experience I don't believe they have one.

This place has really gone downhill since we stayed here 2 years ago.  Worst thing was the elevator - it's doors were like jaws closing hard and quickly, locking onto whatever was trying to pass through. My 78 year old father was nearly crushed by them, got out just in time. Unbelievable that the doors have no sensor. The doors did completely lock on to our luggage cart. Literally couldn't move it in either direction.  Another stronger guest helped us finally get it out. The room was poorly lit and alot of bugs piling up in the one overhead light.  Part of the wall next to the window was crumbling. And furniture was rundown. Clean sheets. Housekeeping seems good. But no maintenance department.  Rated this hotel 2 stars instead of one because front desk staff were welcoming and tried to be helpful.

Front desk staff was friendly. Beds were comfortable. Now for the not so great. Many of the chairs in the breakfast area were in poor shape. Some of them look like they had bird poop on them and were falling apart. As far as Ihg, it was the worst breakfast I have ever had The pool was cold and the hot tub was a little murky. I would not stay here again.
