The Lion & the Rose B&B

This B&B is an old Victorian house that’s been made into a B&B. Every room has a different theme. The rooms were large but the furnishings were not very nice. We stayed there because it was close to the cog railway at Mt. Washington and friends had stayed there a couple years ago and thought it was nice. Well, this time it wasn’t so nice. Wrote my name in the dust on the bedside table. The bedsheets had two pretty big rips in them. We had to go through the bathroom to get to the bedroom that was called the key west room. It was funky and had bamboo fencing on the ceiling. The breakfast was pretty good and served on fancy china. But we wouldn’t stay there again.

We got to Whitfield on a rainy day in October and had reservation at the "THE LION AND THE ROSE BED AND BREAKFAST". My wife and I never stayed in a Bed & Breakfast, so we did look forward for a romantic stay. The room had a funny smell and the carpet dirty, overall not clean, so we did decide not to check in and find a other hotel, very disappointed.

From Chris's gracious greeting to a departing breakfast, all thumbs up here. It was well decorated with the themes described on booking sites. Refrigerator and coffee in room as well as good air conditioning and cable TV. The Inn is the jewel in this small town that has seen better days. We had great conversations over cream-filled French toast and sausage at a candlelight breakfast in the dining room. Please consider this property for cozy and friendly accommodations.
